I dont know how anyone could complain about this hotel or even if some of the reviewers have been to the right place! I have picked this hotel for my wedding in January and cant wait. I have been down numerous times over the last few months and finally got to stay a couple of days just recently and I never saw any hens parties or kids running about the place. Quite the opposite it has a really tranquil feel to it with the large open lobby and friendly staff everywhere you look.

We had drinks in the conservatory bar in the afternoon and in Tuppers in the evening and at all times were waited on by lovely cheerful chatty staff. Our room was beautiful(and huge) with every amenity possible complete with turndown service & morning paper delivered.
There was a wedding on in the hotel and music playing but never did it interfere with our enjoyment or sleep for that matter! It all appeared very seamless and well organised.
We didnt get down to La Perla until 9.50am for breakfast the next day and as it is a buffet expected it to be well depleted at that stage.. no such thing. .i have never seen such an array of food on display and it was all v tasty.. we were again met and greeted by friendly staff and led to our table and checked on a couple of times thereafter. The food was superb and set us up for the day.

We didnt get to use the pool or spa facilities but will definitely do so the next time. We took advantage of some of the lovely walks around the estate and cant wait to head back. Its only five mins drive from kilkenny town the general feel is one of a lovely chilled hotel with quirky little rooms here & there and Staff who are very happy to be there!

The only tiny quibble I had was that the room was quite warm and the air con wouldnt go below 17C but this is probably at a winter setting still and im assuming will change for summer when the weather warms up. Besides there are lots of windows u can open anyway!

its tough going for a hotel in ireland at the moment so when you see a hotel trying very hard, you have to give them top marks. the staff make this place as it is a bit of a mish mash of design. Nice rooms though and the food is generally good. relaxed feel and a good spot for families. you'd like to see them succeed.

We stayed here recently for a family event. I'd heard bad things about the hotel before we got there and when we arrived it met our worst expectations. The hotel was full of hen parties and families with children who were running around the restaurant, bar and halls until midnight. The hotel is nicely decorated but badly maintained, our room had a funny smell, like sewage, and our room was not made up until 5pm, meaning we couldn't go back to our room to rest. The worst part of this hotel however was the DREADFUL dining room. I waited an hour to get breakfast, the staff were rude and at dinner the waiter spilled sauce on my dress as he threw the food on the table. An expensive hotel for such a mediocre service. Don't stay there.

Only back from a FABULOUS weekend break in the Lyrath Estate Hotel....OMG springs to mind! Hotel is immaculate with decor to die for!! We were upgraded to a suite where comfort and class were blended together with style and thought! (also a Piano converted into a "mini" bar for the thirsty guest!!!! ) Bathroom bigger than my own, Marble or Granite HUGE bath with a HUGE walk in shower.. and a separate toilet for the stinky husband! Bliss! Staff bent over backwards without a thought..always where EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The Restaurant we went to was fantastic, food delicious! Breakfast the next morning was self service with your typical yummy Irish breakfast to the healthier option of Cereal or Fruit and Yogurt.. Although we did not visit the SPA, we got talking to a couple who had frequented the Spa for a good few treatments..they were addicted, loved the pampering. Will make sure we opt for the Spa Treatment the next time! Outside, there are extensive gardens where you could go for a leisurely walk after eating too much brekkie!!!! CANT WAIT TO GO BACK! I would recommend the Lyrath Estate Hotel if you want lovely surroundings, Fantastic rooms, Friendly Staff ,Great Food and most importantly, a Fabulous time!

I stayed here with my wife and 2 children 8 and 10 . Over the easter weekend.
The staff were excellent , The went above and beyond the expected service . They even passed on a message from the easter bunny to my young son. ;-)

The rooms are the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Spacious , clean without that soulless feel most hotels seem to have.

Stayed for 2 nts on a girls allowed Package. Room was lovely, lge bath, separate v large shower and toilet. Empty minibar, bathrobes and slippers. Evening turndown service with butlers chocolates. We ate both nights in the yindees thai which was very tasty. Wine was expensive and I wasnt overly impressed with the one we chose but we didnt want to spend more than 30 euro. Had afternoon tea also, the smoked salmon and sandwiches were lovely but the meringues tasted bought-in. We especially enjoyed the dvd private screening in the cinema, staff brought us warm popcorn and champagne and looked in a few times to see if we needed anything. Breakfast was also good and I have a special compliment for ruairi the barman who was really helpful. In fact I have no complaints about any of the staff. We also visited the spa, too pricey to get a treatment but the hour we spent there was lovely, pool, relaxation area etc. The only disappointment was the main swimming pool which is in an out of the way location and looks very small. The doorman was also helpful in showing us where to go for a walk. They also offered to bring round our car when checking out.
