I have stayed in Lyrath a number of times and finally I have decided to write a review because it is truely fantastic.

Lyrath has all the facilities and comforts of a 5 star hotel without the stuffiness. It is the most relaxing place to be.

The food is always amazing. Even the simplest things such as ordering a sandwich in the conservatory - you will receive a culinary delight. Quality goes into everything.

There is a package called "girls allowed" that includes afternoon tea, dinner and a movie in their in house movie theatre. This is a fantastic experience. You receive champagne and lots of popcorn served in lovely big bowls during your film (any film of your choice!!). Brilliant break for the girlies.

The spa in Lyrath is also top class - very relaxing and comfortable. Huge range of treatments. Lovely area for relaxing and a very impressive thermal suite. They offer couples treatment rooms for a romantic pampering break :)

Everything is just perfect - even just sitting in the quiet of the old part of the house reading a book or trying some boating on the little lake!!! - it is magic.

After arriving in Kilkenny, the Lyrath hotel was only just 10mins drive from kilkenny city itself. But upon arriving, it felt like it was another world away. The hotel is tucked away from everything, and once you arrive, you feel like you are 100 miles away. We got a great value offer which included a 1hour spa treatment and complimentary use of the Thermal Suite which was divine. After receiving the treatment, we both felt so at peace and relaxed. There was an option to go on a variety of walks around the Lyrath estate itself. We did a short 20 min walk and were lead by two of the three gorgeous golden retrievers which are resident at the hotel. They were more than happy to assist us in our walk!! All in all, our stay was amazing. Breakfast each morning was delicious with alot of variety. Another bonus to the package was the free evening meal in their own restaurant. A 3 course meal was €50. The food melted in my mouth...was such a lovely treat. The wine list was full of variety also. The staff were very friendly and were very helpful. I will definitely be returning here again!!

Wow!! What a place!! As you drive up the long drive, you see the beautiful old part of the building which looks amazing. It's not until you get inside that you realise the place has been extended very cleverly so as not to ruin the original building. The entrance hall is beautiful, very spacious and airy and had a girl playing the grand piano as we arrived. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and very informative about the estate and the walks available etc. Our room was spotless, and very comfortable and the bathroom was amazing with a HUGE walk in shower. We had afternoon tea on the terrace which was a lovely setting and we ate in the Yindees resturant one evening, which was very tasty. We used the swimming pool and steam room, but didn't pay extra to use the spa facilities. This was the only downside for us, we would have loved to have used the spa, but had to pay an extra 30 euros per person for a two hour visit, whereas at other hotels we have stayed in, it was included in the price. The whole experience was fantastic and felt truely luxurious. The hotel had a great way of feeling very personal, rather than a big commercial 5* resort and one of the things that helped to make it feel this way was the three golden retriever dogs that live there. Apparently these dogs are owned by the owners of the estate who live just next to the hotel and the dogs have free roam of the estate. It was lovely to see them roam around and be so friendly and welcoming to the guests. It definately gave it the homely feel! A great place to go for a relaxing, luxurious break.

I sent my parents to the Lyrath Estate as a gift, this was 3 weeks ago and since then it has all they have been talking about.
From what they have told me(which was quite bit lol) everything was flawless all they way, the Estate its self it breath taking, food amazing, which is why it is a 5 star, but the real heart and soul of the Lyrath is the staff.
My parents have said so many nice things, I really cannot summarise it all in one brief review, but I will give you this example, one staff member Eliza who was working a typical 9-5 shift, stayed on until after 6pm to chat with my parents and advise of all the great places to see while on there stay.
This place is a gem, thank you Lyrath for looking after my parents

I stayed here on the Sunday night of the bank holiday weekend in a triple room with 2 friends.

Excellent:
1) Service - staff are very well trained, from the receptionists to housekeeping to bar staff. All universally polite and helpful. We were initially given a double rather than the triple we had booked and there was absolutely no problem in changing it - they even sent a member of staff up immediately to where we were with the new keys rather than making us return to the lobby.
2) Main lobby and reception rooms - we loved the old restored rooms where you could hide in a nook and read the paper or bring in a drink.
3) Grounds - a beautiful drive up through the grounds a lovely views from our room and the bar.
4) Turndown service - with a Butler's chocolate on our pillow

Good:
1) The room - nice decor, slightly bland and more 4-star than 5-star but very clean. Bathroom was lovely with a separate bath and shower and a closed-off toilet.
2) Bar - Tuppers was where we spent the afternoon and the decor is nice although it smelled very strongly of food which was slightly off-putting. The residents' bar served us until approximately 3.30.
3) Breakfast - nothing out of the ordinary but very nice and a good selection.

Bad:
Nothing really! The smell of food in the bar was the only downside.
Some may consider the journey into the city centre a pain but it cost us 10 euro on a taxi and, to be honest, we liked the hotel so much that we didn't really feel the need to leave!

Highly recommended.
