My sister and I set out last year (fall of 2017) to plan our trip to Ireland & Scotland. The first Ireland travel book I bought listed The Rosquil House as a great B&B to stay at in Kilkenny. I researched them a tad then immediately emailed them and asked many questions. They immediately responded and when we finalized our dates, we emailed the owners back and they confirmed us. We traveled down from Dublin, our flight was late landing and then it took longer to get our rental car so by the time we made our way into Kilkenny it was after dark, close to 8:30 and I emailed Phil & Rhoda as soon as we left Dublin to let them know we would be checking in late. It was very easy for us to find in the dark and had no issues parking. We were greeted by Phil and he could not have been more pleasant. He helped us pull our bags and and showed us our room immediately. We were pleasantly surprised how much room we had in not only our room but the closet and bathroom as well. He also pulled out a few maps and highlighted where we were and how to get around town, his favorite places and some sights he thought we would enjoy. He made sure we had everything we needed then left us to unpack and relax. The next morning we were blown away at breakfast. The dining room was quaint and cozy. All of the guests, from all over the world, were enjoying their breakfasts, planning their day and visiting with each other - everyone was so sweet recommending where to go. Breakfast was a true delight - a table in the middle of the room was filled with wonderful jams and berry compotes, granolas, yogurts, seeds & nuts, banana nut & lemon poppy seed breads as well as a variety of juices and cereals. My absolute favorite part had to be the cinnamon pears poached in white wine and the kiwi topped honeydew. Our server then asked if we preferred hot tea or coffee and brought out fresh teapots and took our order for our hot breakfast. Phil personally cooks all of the hot breakfasts and the omlettes are fabulous with a broiled tomato. Phil & Rhoda visited everyone at breakfast and asked about their previous day and what they planned next. They were absolutely lovely and genuine. The room was perfect for us and we loved that the windows open so you could get a fabulous breeze going in the room. We had wifi, an iron/ironing board, hairdryer and electric tea kettle in the room. It is minutes away from the city center - walking or driving.
We were beyond pleased with our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Amazing breakfast. Quiet. Lots of privacy. Easy to find. Close to city center.

A real Irish welcome with a comfortable room and everything that we needed. We arrived on a Sunday and worried about an evening meal but Rhoda had her contacts and we had legs and we were soon relaxed in a friendly pub and experienced Irish stew. Our hostess took much delight in telling us of the historical places to find in this medieval city and for a couple of euros car parking fee we satisfied our thirst for experience.

Room Tip: Away from the road is best

Phil and Rhoda welcomed us with open arms! What a beautiful home. The rooms were large, the beds comfortable and all of the amenities were spotless. We were visiting family and stayed for two nights. The breakfast selections were amazing, a full Irish or homemade granola and breads and fruit.

The location is perfect for walking into this castle town to tour the historic medieval shopping district. The service is impeccable, the owners are friendly and professional. We had a lovely time!

Phil and Rhoda were great hosts and very helpful with dinner reservations on a busy weekend evening. The rooms were spacious and clean. The amenities included everything we needed or wanted. Breakfast was good too! We were able to walk into the old town from the B&B which we enjoyed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a king bed.
