“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 2 October 2011

Arrived at The Pembroke Hotel "blear eyed" after a transaltantic flight with no sleep. We checked with the registration around noon, not really expecting to find a room ready for us. Not only was the room ready, but after hearing my wife and I discuss the need for a few hours "nap", the gentleman at the desk suggested a wake up call to avoid sleeping too long.
The room was immaculate. I've stayed at some very expensive hotels, but none is any cleaner than this one. Beds extremely comfortable and the room was ver quiet.
There was parking right at the hotel. We didn't need to get in the car again till we left. The hotel is right in the center of town, close to all the restaurants and the castle.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely rooms, bang up to date decor. Dinner in hotel was really tasty and great value. Breakfast equally so. Carpark a bit of a nightmare but overflow carpark very convenient. Reception staff a little distant and please note check in is at 4pm, which is quite late. Bar staff & restaurant staff extremely efficient and friendly. Location is the real winner here, less than 5 minutes stroll from both Kilkenny Castle & Design Centre and main shopping area. Restaurants in abundance - some offering early bird options etc all within walking distance. Great atmosphere about this city which is made for visiting.

Room Tip: No advice needed - not a sound heard, extremely quiet.

Just back today from a very enjoyable2 day stay in this Hotel. On arrival first impressions were of a very clean modern Hotel and the member of Staff who checked us in was very pleasant and welcoming. Our room on the 3rd floor was very spacious and clean with a lovely view of the Castle and the gardens of Butler House. Breakfast was in the Hotel Restaurant and was of a very high quality with a very friendly and efficient Lady in charge. Maybe some of the hot food options could have been a bit warmer but that's a minor quibble. The Hotel is just minutes from the busier part of town but everything is within walking distance.

Our only minor complaint was of a a musty smell in the room but as we never mentioned it we couldn't expect anything done with it! Mind you on check out this morning I wasn't asked if I had a good stay or otherwise-just handed back the room card and it was thank you and goodbye.

I also has an issue with the wrong change being given in the bar although it was resolved. All in all a very nice time in a very nice hotel

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the 3rd floor with a Castle view-they are very quiet and bright

Stayed for one night on a trip through Ireland. Hotel is located in the center of town, 15-20 minutes walk to the train station which serves Dublin Heuston. Front desk was very friendly, efficient and courteous. One bedroom suite was very spacious (compared to 4 other accommodations used in Ireland), with sitting area and even a flat screen TV. Restroom was spacious, with a bathtub, and great water pressure. A great night's sleep. Breakfast included hot and cold selections, cereal, fruit and pastries. Breakfast is available until 10am, would advise to allow more time as one of the hotel restaurant's rooms is used (maybe a wait for seating). Overall great stay and I would return, great value for the money.

Location, Location. A nice modern hotel located on Patrick St. near Kilkenny Castle. Within walking distance to Rothe House, St, Canise, The Black Abby, Information Office and the main shopping street. We got to Kilkenny very early before the check-in time but the female receptionist was very friendly and made us feel right at home. Helped us park our auto in the Hotel Parking lot, and then gave us several good suggestions to fill our time while waiting for our room to get ready. Our room was nice and clean with a modern TV, nice linen and even wash cloths. Recommend this Hotel for your stay; eat your evening meals someplace else.
Breakfast was a standard Irish Breakfast, nothing special. We also ate dinner there our first night and had the chicken special, dinner was ok but just average.

We only stayed here for one night, but could have easily stayed for longer. The hotel is very central with friendly staff. Our room was large, clean, quiet & very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious too!
Kilkenny is a great place - genuinely friendly locals, & lots going on. I can see why people choose here for their Stag/Hen dos. We went to the "City bar & grill" next to the Hibernian Hotel, & the food was delicious. The bars were good too for enjoying the "craic". The quirkiest was one that looks like a sweet shop at the front, but there's a really nice bar behind it!

A lovely modern hotel, with large rooms in the heart of Kilkenny. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room was very clean & well maintained.

Breakfast is buffet style and fresh - cereals, juice, breads, pastries, hot selection of eggs scrambled, fried or poached, mushrooms, tomato, black & white pudding, beans, rashers & sausages. A previous reviewer complained about having to toast their own bread - I disagree as I'm sure half the toast other hotels deliver to a table is wasted.

It's only a short walk to Kilkenny Castle and plenty of bars & restaurants. The bar in the hotel serves nice sandwiches as well.

There is ample free parking.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor and there was noise from a smoking area so for a better night's...
