“Great little boutique hotel with amazing staff”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

We stayed at The Pembroke Hotel back in Sept 2013 during our honeymoon in Ireland/Italy. This was our second last town before going back to Dublin to fly into Italy. The first impression when we first arrived was that it was a very modern, clean hotel. Very simple designs, and close to all the attractions in town. Keep in mind, Kilkenny isn't exactly huge though.

The parking was a little difficult with our rental car, but the staff ensured we would have a spot as we were guests.

I really want to take a moment to tell you something that really set this hotel above any other experience we had in Ireland. On the evening after checking in, my husband and I decided to go to a local restaurant for some food. It was a great meal, until at 2AM my husband woke up with severe food poisoning and couldn't move a few steps without my assistance. We were due to check out at normal time the next morning and had to drive back to Dublin to catch a flight the day after. I told the front staff what happened and they informed that they would allow us to stay past check out for another 2 hours, then helped me local crackers/bananas and gingerale in town. Then when I came back from the local market, they informed that we would be able to stay until 4:00 PM without charge. The hotel didn't have to do this and it did look like they were also operating at a fair amount of capacity. They went above and beyond for us. I would highly recommend this hotel not because of it's great location but because the staff actually CARE about their guests - they do what matters.

On run up to Valentine's Day I decided to surprise my girlfriend with overnight break in Kilkenny. She works in Waterford and I work in Dublin so it was great to meet in a city that is just a short trip by motor way. It is extremely hard to find fault with Pembroke. Genuine service and consistently high standards across all areas are hard to find but the really Pembroke delivers in every aspect.
.......for affordability, for excellent food, excellent room facilities and layout, for location- the Pembroke ticks every box. Highly recommend it for romantic getaway.

I stayed in this Hotel last week while on a short break in Kilkenny, my reason for selecting this Hotel was its location.
In this I was not dissapointed as its location is right in the center of the city. This allowed us to walk to anywhere we wanted to go. The hotel itself was clean and the staff efficient and very helpfull. all in all a very good experience.

Room Tip: a room at the rear of the hotel is necessary as its situated on the main street

Stayed in the Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel for one night. Great location, just a short walk to the wide variety of great bars and restaurants in Kilkenny. Spacious clean room which they allowed us to check in early, good breakfast and very helpful staff.

We recently held a car launch for 30 journalists at the wonderful Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny. From the moment I placed an enquiry phone call, right through to our departure, my experience of the staff at the Pembroke was first class. Edel was easy to talk to, quick to respond to my enquiries & looked after our every need. The hotel is ideally placed in the heart of beautiful Kilkenny and everywhere is accessible: the castle is close by and there are plenty of excellent restaurants and pubs just a mere walk away. Zuni Restaurant, just opposite the Pembroke, is out of this world! At the same time it was hard to imagine we were in the heart of Kilkenny, as the bedrooms were so quiet - quite the retreat! The function room downstairs is a great place for a group and equally, the bar area upstairs is so homely, yet chic - we made great friends that night. John Ryan, the owner, introduced himself to us all - you don't always get that treatment nowadays. The Pembroke Hotel really is a great find for business or for leisure. Oh and the biscuit cake is legendary! I will be back! The next time for a leisure trip to wonderful Kilkenny.

Room Tip: The Castle view rooms are lovely.

Stayed in the Pembroke for a night while attending a wedding in another hotel. Lovely bright modern hotel with parking and lift. Staff are very friendly and had rooms with early check in as we were getting ready for the wedding. Room was huge and nice and bright, with a safe, only one complaint, no drinking glass in bathroom... Breakfast delicious, nice coffee! Overall very impressed, brilliant value only €75 b&b, will definitely be back!
