Checked in on a friday evening with no problems, room was clean and well appointed with tea/coffee maker, iron/trouser press, broadband connection outlet, flat screen tv etc. Two nights cost €260 for two of us which is not bad. Carpets are a little tired but overall the hotel is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Wireless broadband is available in the bar and lobby. Had a nice snack in the bar it was well presented simple and tasty. Had a nice stay and would reccommend this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in teh Pembroke. From the moment we arrived we found the staff very welcoming and friendly. Our double room was bright, spacious and spotless, with a huge bed and those fresh linen sheets that made you want to jump in straight away! The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city centre, with the shopping areas, the castle as well as the main pubs and restaurants close by. There is a trendy wine bar as part of the hotel with a fine selection of top quality wines and an appetising food menu. Although the bar was pretty full the night we were there, we were easy able to converse without having to shout or being interrupted. All in all we were sorry to have to leave the next day and would have loved more time in both Kilkenny and the Pembroke. I would definitely recommend the Pembroke if you are travelling to Kilkenny, whether that is for a romantic break or for business travel.

The hotel is in a good positon. It is very close to the castle. You can walk easily to the bars restaurants and the cathedrals are a short walk. The hotel is very clean. The staff are lovely and so friendly, nothing seamed too much trouble. The rooms are well equiped . Lovely comfortable beds nice bathroom very clean. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and it was brilliant. The home made soda bread is wonderful. The breakfast was also very good. All what you would expect on a good buffet. The service was quick and beverages brought to your table. The cooked food good quality and cooked well. It is a good job our stay was short I need a diet now. I would definately stay here again great hotel good value. Kath and Graham Johnson

Just stayed one night - thank God as it was a very unpleasant stay. Room was tiny although a family room and stank of cigarette smoke. Beds were not properly made and I had to remake them myself! Decor was bland and tired looking. We could have been in any city in any part of the world which was very depressing. The staff member at the front desk was rude to my husband on our arrival when he enquired about where parking was (down the road, around the corner into another street and in a high rise carpark!!!). The breakfast was not up to much. The fried eggs - all two of them in the buffet - were broken and the scrambled egg was greasy and unpalatable. The meat was very poor quality. We had to make our own toast! At the prices they charged for B& B I expected a lot better. The hotel had a cold unfriendly atmosphere. No smiles at the front desk. No friendly banter. In fact there was no banter whatsoever!!! We have stayed in a lot of hotels in Ireland and this was the least friendly ever. We checked out straightaway after breakfast in the morning and will not be returning. I am amazed at the good reviews that this hotel has garnered. A singularly unpleasant experience which we wont be repeating.

We were greeted with a smile. The Kilkenny festival was going on, so we had been unable to park at the hotel, but the telephone directions to alternate parking were excellent (less that a munutes walk). Our room was lovely - spacious, modern and clean. All the staff that we came into contact wth were friendly and helpful. We were very close to the centre of town.

We stayed here for three nights. The location was very good, centre of Kilkenny. There was a great buzz around Kilkenny, can't say the same about the hotel. There was no atmosphere here at all. The main evening restaurant was downstairs in the basement. It was extremely hot down here, so made eating very uncomfortable. Food was reasonably ok. The waitress was very nice, but not very professional overall. If I go to KilKenny again, I would not stay in the Pembroke Hote.

The hotel was fine in most ways - staff were good; breakfast was tasty; room was big; the location is convenient and I found a good value room on the web for a busy weekend in the town. However, I was in a room facing the street and it turns out that the bar across the street had karaoke until around 1am, with the door open. And I really wasn't in the mood for bad renditions of '80s and country music!
