“Fantastic self catering in very remote but beautiful area.”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We spent a week mountain biking at the trails which are a ten minute drive from the lodges. The trails are fantastic and the views spectacular. The lodges have every thing you need and more. Big, clean & comfortable. Ita at reception could not have been more helpful. The area is very remote and hard to find your way around so I would advice anyone going to have a plan and directions before you get there (signal for phones and internet is intermittent). We'd recommend Lazy Dog Shooting (10 min drive), National Kart Centre (1hr drive) & Michelstown Cave (30 min drive). Although the staff in the heritage centre (30 min drive) were very nice I felt it was missing some substance.

“Perfect base for our wedding guests”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We recently held our wedding in the local area and the lodges were the perfect choice of accommodation for our guests. We are local but many of our guests travelled from around Ireland, the UK and further afield. The lodged were a revelation to them and we were so proud to show them the beautiful local countryside and the facilities available. Ita was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and kept in touch with us for months ahead of time to let us know what was available and who had booked in. She was especially helpful when one member of the group required special facilities due to reduced mobility.
We would recommend the lodges to anybody looking for a friends' weekend away, a family break or as a touring base for international visitors wanting to visit the Munster region. Top notch.

“Second visit this year with a young family ... that says it all really!”

We had a wonderful stay here back in April (which I reviewed at the time).

As it went so well, we returned 4 months later after much begging from my sons.
(My five year old even taught my two year old how to say 'ballyorgan' which swung the vote)

Once again, like Goldilock's porridge, everything was just right - the lodge was spotless, modern, well equipped, calm and peaceful.

The kids playground with the zipline was still as fun as ever, as were the peaceful walks through the forest - once you cross the tiny bridge over the bubbling stream, you could literally be in another world

However, all that aside, when it comes to tourism, it is often true that 'it's the people you meet who make the repeat customers'

In our case (and it looks like another reviewer made the same point) it was once again the amazing efficient and welcoming Ita who made our trip

Nothing was too much trouble;- whether it was info on the locality, things to do and see - all passed on with a friendly chat

We can't recommend this place enough and are already planning our next trip....

“Heavenly”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

It may sound unreal, but this place was nothing short of paradise with Ita, the site manager, like an angel in attendance. We spent 7 blissful nights with our baby daughter here. Had family drop by and everyone, without exception, was charmed. Unforgettable walks in the hills and fields, and peaceful mornings and evenings in the lodge which is perefectly designed to suit all tastes and ages. Wish our stay never ended.

“Everything you could ask for in a holiday lodge”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We rented a house for a weekend as we were going to a wedding in the locality. From the moment we arrived we were impressed, the houses are kitted out to a high standard and were spotlessly clean - there are great little touches like, firewood in the sitting room so you can light a fire and also a kitchen stocked with every utensil and cooking implement you might need together with an abundance of plates, cups etc. In addition they also provide tablets for the dish washer, tea towels etc which made it very easy to treat the house like our home for two days. There is a play ground and zip wire and big swing for adults together with lots of lovely walks in the area.

Ita, the lady who runs it, is very friendly and helpful.

“Perfect for a family and hooking up with others”
Reviewed 28 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed here for two nights (three adults, two kids). Ours was one of the older properties, but it was absolutely adequate for our needs. We were attending a local wedding, and the other guests and family had taken about 7/8 of the other houses. The houses are spacious, decent showers, plenty of towels, kitchen well equipped, and TV seemed to have loads of channels (which might be useful if you were staying longer). Ita the manager was extremely helpful. And the value was excellent - not often a family of five can be accommodated for an entire weekend for less than €200. I'd reckon these would also be ideal for mountain biking groups availing of nearby Ballyhoura Cycling Track which has fast gained a rep as one of the best mountain bike trails in Europe.
