No. 1 Pery Square Hotel & Spa
Ranked #2 of 20 Hotels in Limerick
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 October 2013

One of the nicest hotels we have been to. From the moment we arrived we were greeted in a professional and very friendly manner. The woman at the front desk has been like a friend more than a receptionist. Chatting all the time, telling you about her experiences in relation to your own background. She is a serious asset to the place.

The hotel itself is top drawer with 5 star oozing from all hallways and rooms. It has an extremely relaxing feel about it from the time you enter to the room you stay in. The rooms are very well laid out, spacious and comfortable with your robe waiting for you to relax in. The breakfast is really nice with as much to eat as you want while you read your complementary Irish Independent. The lady serving breakfast was also very nice, professional and friendly.

It's a 5-7 walk from the main part of the city centre with parking just down the street. The only negative we could give it is the prices in the restaurant. The food is really magnificent but massively overpriced for what it costs them to prepare (e.g raspberry eaton with jelly €10.50). However, it didn't dampen our stay as this place is just a fantastic place to stay and we would highly recommend it.

While the exterior may seem a bit plain and unimpressive, everything inside was wonderful. We stayed here for one night and were very surprised at how nice this hotel was; the staff were all helpful, friendly and attentive. Our room on the third floor of the main building was superb.
OK, this is not a London 5 star hotel, but it is an excellent, friendly, boutique hotel. If you will be upset with a minor paint chip or crack in some plaster, get over it. This hotel, although it may have a few rough edges (not many) was charming, clean, and more than comfortable. The main building is wonderful but has no elevator. Try the other wing if you need a lift. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed here on Sunday night with a living and social voucher. Although it was a rather casual check-in, we were ushered into a side room and left sitting there, we did receive tea/coffee but I did have to remind our server that our deal included scones?
We were eventually shown to our room in the newer part of the building, one floor above the restaurant. The room was very cosy although did not have any view. We ate in the restaurant, a three course meal for €29 each. Food was good and we had a wonderful, knowledgable server called Liam.
We had a good sleep and breakfast in the morning was absolutely superb. It included such an array of breads, fruit, scones, juices etc. We had the most efficient waitress who managed the whole room about 20 people so efficiently and calmly with no trace of panic at all. When I enquired about her name the lady on reception said there were 2 sisters who worked there so I am not sure of her name. A very enjoyable stay and would definately recommend this place.

We stayed at No1 Pery Square last Friday and on a previous occasion. We adore it. It's a very special place in a great tranquil location...perfect for a relaxing break. The staff/rooms/setting all adds to the experience. The breakfast is delicious and the rooms are really comfy also.

Thanks, thanks, thanks to the Staff of No1 Pery Square. My Wife and I have used tripadvisor to guide a lot of our decisions regarding places to go on holiday, one off hotels, restaurants and many other issues you consider when having a break. Generally we have taken most of the reviews as subjective personal accounts and some a bit suspect. Oh my, this is the real deal for warm and genuine service. Nothing (reasonable) seem's too much and we felt that we were not just passing guests on a quiet Monday evening. From the moment we turned up in the cheap hotrod hire car and were told,"don't worry, leave the car and welcome".My Wife giggled when the Lady on reception identified "oh Mrs O'Brien, we were expecting you", that I (Estuary English accent, and not my Wife from Norn Ireland) was a local person and her (the lady on reception) in-laws would probably give me some background to my roots and rang them from reception (I don't think we booked in as I spent a lovely time talking to a Lady that remembered me nearly 50 years ago). This is Irish Hospitality and the yet another reason my Wife and I will recommend, but more importantly find a reason to return.
Reasons, other than the wonderful warm welcome and on-going service to return.
The place is so well located to Central Limerick, but all the accessible rural beauty areas, including my ancestral heartland "the Burren". and the cliffs of Moher. The Hotel is about 20 minutes from Shannon Airport and quick to access Cork and Kerry.
We enjoyed a fantastic Breakfast by the lovely wee Lady that loves going to Fleadh's( irish music and folk festivals), The Restaurants are not open off season on a Monday, but the wonderful chap training (HonS Degree) that was on reception and bar, made some great recommendations for Restaurants nearby, but makes a sublime Irish Coffee
The actual room we had was the Oscar Wilde room, the most comfortable room ever! I would have loved to stay in the room longer, it was fantastic!
All in all, we will be looking at future reviews and hope and smile when we hear others have had so much fun.
Wow!

Room Tip: I think that we stayed in a standard room, so anything better please let us know on tripadvisor

My family and I stayed there in June 2013 for several days and we absolutely loved it. The food was amazing, the beds were very high quality, the place was impeccably clean, the staff were courteous and helpful. One of the best hotels I have stayed in.

This place has everything one wants to offer including a fantastic location close to everything city has to offer...It is set in the Georgian Quarter and you would enjoy looking at those buildings no matter what part of the hotel you are in..outside terrace, your room or the restaurant...I had visited this place twice this year and will be sure to come back...Spa facilities are very surreal and comforting and there is very particular smell around that puts you right in the relaxing mood...

Rooms are big and spacious...Although it depends on which part you are in..It is worth asking for a room in the old or new part...New part has a lift, old does not...So make sure to verify when booking if you have special requirements..

Staff are friendly and are really polite..

Food at the restaurant is of fantastic quality and a lot is locally sourced...Second time we said we ll go to the restaurant in the city, but we just could not find one that would beat Brasserie 1..

Definitely 5 star rating..Cant wait to go back..Hopefully at Christmas time.
