I’ve stayed in plenty of places over the years, but a recent great experience at Pery Sqaure has prompted me to write my first review. “Boutique” and friendliness do not necessarily go hand in hand, but this is a place where the owners are just as visible and hardworking as the rest of the staff – and all are very welcoming. The hotel is beside a beautiful square in a carefully restored fantastic Georgian building. The rooms are large and spacious, with great beds and the bathrooms roomy and stylish. Food at the brasserie is outstanding and the chef seems to favour locally sourced seasonal produce emphasising natural flavours, but yet executed in a very contemporary way. It seemed like there were also lots of local non-residents dining there suggesting that the restaurant is also destination in itself. Breakfast is excellent, with locally made fresh apple and grapefruit juices a highlight. There is what seems to be a very cosy and intimate spa area in the old vaults under the hotel, but I didn’t try any of the treatments. Overall a very impressive experience and well worth the price we paid.
