We were in Limerick on Sunday for a family spin and decided to stop at the Unicorn for some Sunday lunch.

When we arrived at the Unicorn, it looked extremely busy and popular which is always a good sign when pulling up outside. When we entered the unicorn we took a seat in the bar by the main doors and were given menu's.

We were then told that it may be better for us with our son to head further into the bar as there were quieter areas which may suit us as a family, this was greatly appreciated.

We had the carvery here and have to say it was one of the best carvery meals I've had in a long time, and very reasonable too. €15.95 for two courses with tea and coffee.

The pub is nice, friendly and welcoming and we would most definitely return!

Decided to eat here with family on Mother's Day and booked a table upstairs.

In trying to be balanced in this review there are very few positives but I will start with these:

Cheesecake was excellent
The ability to bring your own wine is excellent.

unfortunately these were heavily outweighed by the negatives:

The decor badly needs updating (despite being closed for renovations recently)
Toilets were disgusting with urine all over seat and floor and last clean checklist was previous day.
Hand dryer in male toilet did not work
More akin to a cafe than a restaurant with 4 different types of chairs and many different types of table - none with tablecloths and dirty cutlery
Starters was very sparse, lacked taste and presentation was non existent
Plate was still wet on the side
Main course - Roast beef was extremely tough and the peas took over half the plate. Very little mashed potato and a couple of carrots. Appeared like leftovers from an earlier carvery.
Service was adequate with one pleasant girl kept busy for all tables,
Room was cold.

Would I eat here again - definitely not!! The price was increased from the standard set dinner as advertised on the website because of the day that was in it, however the quality of the accommodation and quality of food left a lot to be desired.

From our view it was embarrassing to have suggested the venue for a celebration.

Came here for Mothers day dinner went upstairs for 4 course for €22 . Starters were horrible and looked very amateur. Cutlery is dirty room is dingy no table cloths. Mains were swimming in gravy veg looked a few days old. Don't know how they class themselves as a restaurant. Our plates were full going back after every course and they did not cop anything I complained to no avail. Ice cream was in the freezer a few years id say. Genuinely Stay Away! The place should be closed down

Great place to hang with locals and watch a rugby game. We didn't eat - had a few cocktails. Chatted and laughed with a few locals. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Perfect.

Twice I have been here with family occasions and quite a few times as a casual fine dining experience.
The menu is extensive you can everything from a simple sandwich to chicken roast beef ham and turkey.
The desserts are fantastic the baileys and orange cheese cake is the best that I have ever tasted.
The staff are welcoming and friendly and always try and accomplish any request.
The restaurant is lovely as is the bar
And extra effort is always made when you have a family occasion
