Owner description: The White House Bar on 52 O'Connell Street Limerick is one of the City's most historic establishments, the quaint Georgian building itself, dates back to the early 1800's. Through the years it has been home to poets, writers, musicians and all other artists alike and now with a new lease of life it has reopened it's doors to offer the people of Limerick a new venue right in the heart of the city center with a new breakfast and lunch menu including a wide range of Wines, Whiskeys, Vodkas, Gins and Craft Beers all served up in the uniquely charming and relaxing ambience that you can only find in The White House Bar.

“Great Pub”
Reviewed 2 December 2012

I recently attended the White House Poets open mic night, which is held every Wednesday night. It was most enjoyable and I think it's fair to say that, like rugby, poetry is not an elitist sport in Limerick. The pints were good and they served complimentary snacks which were very tasty. It's a lovely old pub and well worth a visit.

“Favorite place”
Reviewed 11 October 2012 via mobile

Traveled Germany London and Ireland, if I could have stayed my whole vacation in this town I would have! The locals are friendly and Joan the lady who works at the white house is sweet as can be! Very hospitable and attentive, she even told us about the lottery and wished us luck to win 100 million euro! If I had won I wouldn't be back home, I'd probably be enjoying a Guinness right now. Oh and if you stop by make sure to get a picture filling a glass!

“Lovely Tradition Pub”
Reviewed 30 May 2009

Billed as the best traditional pub in Limerick in some guide book it did not let us down. Very cozy atmospheric pub. Lots of wood. Cons - Low pub stools at some tables but these seem to be common in Ireland, and its a bit warmer inside than I would like, but that also seems to be a common thing in Ireland. Definitely worth checking out if you are in town.

“Wednesday night is Poetry night ....”
Reviewed 12 April 2005

Go there on a Wednesday night to hear all the local poets reading their stuff in an open mic session, free entry and sausages and chips are served. After the open mic (kicks off around 9) there's a reading by some well-known poet. These sessions are eclectic, alive, sometimes brilliant, sometimes maudlin, sometimes heart-stoppingly beautiful! A very very Irish experience, and not one manufactured for tourist consumption.

Also a great pint of Guinness ...
