The Pier Hotel, Limerick

The Pier is right in Limerick city centre, we had to park in Dunes Stores car park because the hotel car park was full (even though we arrived at 3pm) But the hotel covers the cost of parking from 6:30pm to 8:30am so that takes the sting out of it. The room was small basic and a bit noisy, but it was clean and practical. We paid €70 for a Saturday night including breakfast which was reasonable considering that you are within walking distance of everything. There was some confusion at breakfast the next morning and successive servers forgot about our food and us but it didn't detract from our visit. All in all we were happy with our visit and I be happy to go there again.

Stayed in Pier Hotel from during the recent Limerick flooding and the staff were excellent. Couldn't have done more to help when the Car when the CarPark partly flooded. Dealt with everything in a friendly no hassle manner while I'm sure they must have been under pressure. Lovely pub with food on site. Breakfast is served so no queuing. Great location on the River and right in heart of City. Limerick has lots to offer with lovely traditional pubs, Castle and historic landmarks. Take a wander around the Milk Market with great stalls and quirky shops. A visit to the Hunt Museum is a must and we got the most entertaining guide.

Room Tip: If you can get a river view - it will be quieter and lovely view. Lively bar so maybe aim for high f...

After reading reviews on trip advisor we decided to book this hotel as we needed to attend a party close by. On arrival we could not find the hotel and rang for directions it rooms us 5 calls to get through, the lady asked us could be park in the dunes stores car park close by as there car park had been flooded due to bad weather, this was no problem for us. We arrived at reception and I must say the lady was so so lovely and helpful and only for her my rating would have been less. We where told the car park was free and no need to move the car. We went to our room it was very small with a poky window looking onto the other hotel bedroom windows so curtains had to remain closed. From midnight onwards all we could here for the night is what sounded like fireworks going off but after 20 mins we found out it was the heating system. At 4 am we needed water due to the heat and tried to call reception only to find out the room in the hotel did not work. I must say the next morning the breakfast was fantastic in the quays bar fresh and tasty. On check out I had a few things to say but the girl now on reception did not even look at us never mind ask how our stay was. We went to get the car only to find out we had to pay for the car park and we had to take it up at the hotel, we returned to the hotel to the not so friendly receptionist who told us the car park is only free till8 am and signs showed this, we explained to her that we where told different and eventually she said well i only have 4 euro here is my husband said "here just give me that" we where so disappointed and after having a lovely welcome it went down hill very fast. As you can see from my trip advisor reviews I have always had positive feedback, as a young couple with children we appreciate getting a break away for the night but on this occasion we should have stayed at home.

We just had a couple of nights at The Pier Hotel and we had a most enjoyable stay. We only booked bed and breakfast as we planned to be out and about but it was great value for money. We even got to park the car free of charge in their private, secure car park so that saved us money too.
Our room was just average size but had everything we needed including tea and coffee making facilites and plenty of draws and hanging space for clothes. It has a large bathroom with shower (no bath) which was very clean and modern as was the bedroom. The bed and pillows were comfortable and best of all for me, it was so sound proof. Very quiet at night.
The staff were all so lovely and friendly and made us feel so at home.
Breakfast was limited to cereals or full or mini Irish as in there were no yogourts/fruit/cheeses etc but for us on our two night stay we had the full Irish and it was great.
The hotel is right next to the River Shannon and right next to the shops so what more could you want! We would recommend it.

Room Tip: We had an inside room overlooking a small courtyard but next time we will pay extra to get a river v...

Myself and my husband stayed here last night, could not have asked for better.. Christine on reception was so friendly & helpful... We had dinner in the restaurant area which is very nice & is separated from the bar, our waiter Rob could not have done anymore for us.. The food was delicious! My husband had the mushroom soup for starter & he said it was the nicest soup he's had in a long time! We then went to the bar, there was live music on which was great and Mikey & Jack our bartenders were very friendly & efficient... Brilliant stay, can't wait to stay again!!
