“Great Stay”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

On arrival at the hotel I discovered that I had booked the hotel for the wrong night, the staff could not have been more helpful in accommodating us at no extra cost. We then ate at the bar, food was lovely and staff were great especially a girl behind the bar, I think her name was Leah, great atmosphere and the drink and food was very reasonably priced for a city centre hotel. I would highly recommend the Pier hotel for the friendliness of the staff alone,

Stayed in this hotel a few weeks ago after a day of shopping and a night out in Limerick. This was one of our first times staying in Limerick city and we weren't too sure of where we were going. On arrival we met a staff member in the underground car park who was very helpful giving us directions and advice, and directed us to the reception. After a night out we were delighted that the breakfast at this hotel was so delicious, just what we needed, cooked by the same young chef we had met in the carpark (does he do it all? ha) and so reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again its in a central location, cheap rates and great staff.

Just returned from a 2 night stay here. When we arrived we went into bar for some food. Barman extremely friendly and only way I could describe food was a feast, couldn't finish our dish. Receptionist and all staff extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast in morning served to your table. Will definitely be returning to this hotel as it's right in the town centre.

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights to visit Limerick for the first time. We were really impressed with the price considering how central the hotel is. The staff were nothing but helpful and the room was not first class but sufficient for what we needed and how much we paid. Breakfast was also great value and set us up well for exploring the city. I can imagine that parking is difficult during busy periods as it's limited but we had no issues. Our room was right next to the bridge and the road was busy so the room would benefit from double glazing as it was quite cold and noisey until later on. The only issue we had was when we had to leave at around 4.30am and there was no hot water for us to have a shower. It was not enough to bother us though and overall we had a great stay.

The dealings I had with staff was fine. However the rooms were freezing. We complained and were moved to another room but that was nearly as cold. There was mould all over the ceiling in the bathroom over the shower area and the bath was dirty with brown marks on the floor of it and on the shower fixings and the walls were grotty. The water in the shower was only lukewarm. Other than that the food was fine. I would not stay there again. It was not acceptable for a city centre hotel. The windows were dirty too. I would give it 5/10 at a push. This was a trip to hospital for me so comfort and cleanliness was of utmost importance.

Room Tip: Its worth paying the extra few quid for a decent hotel

My wife and I stayed here for a rugby weekend in February. The staff were very friendly from start to finish, the room was not big as you would expect in a city centre hotel but it was very clean. Very good breakfast which was fresh and served to your table, a service you rarely see anymore but added to the personal touch at this lovely family run boutique hotel. We stayed here during the very bad weather and flooding and on the Friday night we went out for a few drinks. About 10.30pm the reception phoned to say there was a danger of flooding in the car park, I told them my car keys were in the room so the receptionist said that they would move my car to safety and look after it which they did. I have stayed in many hotels including many 5 star hotels and you rarely see this level of service. When we were checking out I actually asked that we be added to their emailing list and I can honestly say we would be delighted to stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.

Booked a Wheelchair accessible room ....Had to push bed up against the wall to allow wheelchair to move between the beds , BATH's are NOT wheelchair accessible !!! ,Standard toilet heights are NOT wheelchair accessible !!! ,No emergency alarm !!!, No lock on bathroom door ? , Not room service menu , no breakfast in room option given , 3 cups and one glass in a room that was set up for 5 people ??? Where's the logic ?? Most point out that room was designed for a double and two single not a double and 3 single beds as set up for so floor space was next to zero , No table and chair,No bedside lamps , Laptop screen was bigger than tv , Only 2 lights worked .Considering what was advertised and what we got ,We are very disappointed as disabled guests who book and had the room confirmed as wheelchair accessible and even ask for separate conformation that bathroom was accessible we feel we where cheated out off our romantic valentines night away and shoved into a poky room with the bear minimum off though to its layout and was nothing like photos advertised on this site . Wont be staying again unless its brought up to standards that are expectable for wheelchair users and they can prove it before we travel .

Room Tip: If your a wheelchair traveller id avoid it at all cost as it is set up now it is NOT suitable and no...
