“Perfect Wedding at Greenhills”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2010

My (now) husband and I held our wedding reception at the Greenhills and we had a fantastic day. The layout of the hotel was beautiful, the food amazing and the staff wonderful - nothing was too much trouble, down to amusing my 2 year old nephew at the top table and organizing a last minute babysitter so his mom could enjoy a good ole knees up. The location of the hotel was perfect as we had a lot of guests travelling from different European countries and it was easy to find, without having to go through the city centre. All of these European tastes were also accommodated - everybody really enjoyed their stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, both business and pleasure!

We recently travelled to Limerick to stay for 3 nights in the Greenhills Hotel. My sister is confined to a wheelchair and I requested a room with a wheelchair accessible bathroom with grab rails. I was assured tha this would be provided. When we arrived we discovered that while you could get a wheelchair into the bathroom the washbasin was so big that we couldnt get the wheelchair aligned with the toilet which is essential for sliding across. The toilet was a regular toilet ie not raised as it should be and there was only one grab rail making it impossible for my sister to raise herself to get her clothes down or to get back on the wheelchair. We ended up leaving the next morning as we couldn't tolerate the difficulty. While the hotel was understanding they couldn't offer anything better and still charged us full ratefor the night we stayed. People with disabilites need the same accessibility in the bedroom as are in the public disabled toilets. Not this tokenism. It was very disappointing

We stayed 1 night. The room was large and clean, facing a old tennis court. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a big supermarket nearby, and a shopping center at build.
The sport center looks nice (we personally did not use it, but our friends had a good sauna).
Breakfast was very good with some choice over eggs and cereals. Fresh vegetables were a nice surprise.
Disadvantage - it is about 4 KM off Limerick city center, so you should have a car.

I stayed in this hotel in June we found the reception staff most unhelpful and unorganised. On check-in we were told breakfast was included and on check out they charged us, I spoke to the manager regarding this and she was most unhelpful also. I can speak highely of the bar staff as nothing seemed to be a problem, our room was clean but very basic. Location is not central but 10 minutes in a taxi from the city centre.

Stayed for two nights midweek break. On the down side one of the children had to sleep on a "put-me-up" bed, although we had booked a family room. When I phoned reception to request extra pillows (we had 1 flat pillow each), the receptionist didnt give me much hope of getting same but said she would ask for them! Although we had a non-smoking room there was a strong smell of stale smoke on entering the room. We left our bedroom window open and this did eventually clear. On the good side - four pillows were brought to our room! The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The leisure centre is very good. We ate in the bar, but were allowed to order from both the bar and restaurant menu to cater for our various tastes! Breakfast was varied and very good. Staff were very friendly. I would return to this hotel again if I was to return to Limerick.

This is a pretty decent hotel. Good points were the excellent value room- €65 for bed and brekafast and the spacious and clean rooms. The bar and restaurant were also of a good standard and the service was quite good. Bad points? Well it probably does need to be updated- some of the chairs in the brekafast area were looking very worn and the rooms could probably do with a touch up in the next year or so. I am not sure if it is worth its four star rating- I assume it has this because of the leisure centre (which I did not use). Also the location may not be ideal for everyone especially if you want to stay and visit Limerick city. You definitely would need a car (as we had). Overall though a pretty decent place to stay a night or two.

stayed here because we were attending a concert at thomond park which is within walking distance of the hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful. the room itself was really nice, really clean and nice bed linen etc. however the bathroom did need some tlc retiling etc. also for the price (129 euro for one night) we were surprised that breakfast was not included. would probably stay there again for convenience only but try to get a better rate. would like to add that we ate in the carvery the day before our stay and the food was great.
