Mortells Restaurant on Roches Street in Limerick, Ireland, is a real gem. This unpretentious restaurant is hosted by the the charming and gregarious owner / patron Brian Mortell, and he and his wife make you welcome and relaxed the moment you cross the threshold. If you want large menus and swathes of linen, this is not for you. If you want excellent fresh seafood freshly prepared, and presented in a pleasant and unfussy manner - this is for you. The day we called, Brian had fresh sole, and fresh haddock (as well as other moutwatering home cooked meaty options), and one of each was ordered and presented. What a dining experience! The delightfully prepared fish was accompanied by potatoes dauphin, and fresh crunchy vegatables, Two delightfully satisfying dishes, To go to Limerick, and not visit Mortells is to miss a rare culinary treat.
We will be back!
