The gallery is a nice place to go to. I loved the exhibition that was there . You can go in and relax, take your time to look around and gather your thoughts. Good place to go if you have an hour or two to kill when visiting Limerick.

The building itself is attractively placed alongside the peoples park, and contains a light and spacious art gallery, plus mind challenging exhibitions of mirrors and perspective.
The cafe has a very good reputation, but beware lunch times - seems popular with locals, and soon runs of out tables.

Having two children in tow on a shopping trip to Limerick City over the weekend needing a few breaks doing the day we had planned to spend the hour as advertised from 1-2pm at the planned arts and crafts lesson. Then have lunch in their cafe.

However on landing, imagine the shock at finding there was a mistake in the brochure and the time was actual 12-1pm. How this sort of slip-up is allowed to happen in this day and age is beyond me. A simple sentence on the internet would have alerted me to the fact. Not to mention the fact I got the actual brochure from a volunteer in the city during the morning, surely they should have been informed of the mistake, perhaps changed in in the brochure with a simple biro. We went to the lovely room where the art teacher was, she looked to be well prepared with big craft boxes and few children there looked very happy. Unfortunely there was nothing she could do for us.

We were left with a very disappointed 6 year old (thankfully my eleven year old was old enough to accept it).

The museum is enjoyable, well worth a visit. We didn't visit the cafe in the end.

I visited the LCGA just a couple of days ago and found the space really intriguing. The current exhibition is part of the EVA International Visual Arts Biennial and it has transformed the space, capitalising on the recent renovations to bring a sense of re-invigoration to the exhibition space. A striking transformation has occurred where the permanent collection had been housed with the installation of suspended scultural pieces relating to freshly painted dynamic shapes on the walls, Eva is on until August 12th so I'm excited to see what comes next! The cafe is pretty darn good too, a nice selection of salads and light lunches with teas, coffees and seductive sweet treats. I could easily spend the day here and with the beautiful People's Park on the doorstep it's the perfect way to spend a Summer's Day.
