Stayed there this past weekend. Fine in every way really except I would call it a good 3 star hotel and not 4 star. It just lacked that extra touch that makes 4 star hotels. (their hotel in IFSC Dublin would be a justified 4 star though). One small gripe. I booked a double bed using their own website but when we got to our room, it was just 2 twin beds. There should have been a little more attention paid by the receptionist to check the booking details before allocating us the wrong room. We had arrived late and were rushing to change and meet friends for dinner elsewhere so didn't have the time to call downstairs to be reallocated a new room and just took what we got.

Room Tip: ask for a river view.

Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear that you were allocated the incorrect room type and that this has impacted negatively on the impression of our hotel. Our staff at reception generally receive great praise for been helpful and accommodating. It is such a pity that you did not highlight this mistake while staying here and we would have changed your room immediately, we would even have moved all your luggage and have left new keys for you as you were rushing to meet your friends. We would consider ourselves one of the leading 4 star hotels in Limerick and the wider mid western region. I hope that you will consider us again in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Kind regards, Ivan Tuohy General Manager

Just back from a stag night at this hotel, it was great value, food was excellent and rooms were a high standard and very clean. we had breakfast and an evening meal included and the quality of the food was excellent on both occasions and at a great priced package. it is perfect for a hen or stag party because it is close to the city centre so there is no need for taxis to get to pubs/nightclubs. I took the train down to limerick and it is a five minute walk from the station. Staff are very friendly an professional. Some of the lads even commented on the large kids zone in the lobby area and said they would come back with their partner and kids for a weekend. Highly reccomended hotel.

Room Tip: Call or email the hotel for a great value package.

Dear Patrick, thank you for your wonderful review on our hotel. I am delighted to hear that you and your friends really enjoyed your break to Limerick and to the Clarion Hotel. We always receive great comments regarding the cleanliness of the hotel, our friendly and brilliant staff and of course, our food. I am happy to hear that even though you were on a stag, you and your friends would bring your family to us as well. We really see ourselves as a great family focus hotel as well. Looking forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, Ivan Tuohy General Manager

We stayed on a Saturday night with our 3 children. Great special offer. It's a lovely hotel, staff were very nice. The bar food and restaurant food was very good. The room was lovely, not very spacious. The pool is only 12m. They have a kids room at the end of the bar with WII, colouring etc, great for kids and parents sitting in the bar as you can see in. Its a 10 min walk to main shopping streets and an excellent place to shop. The bar was busy but staff said it was quiet enough. Parking was next door and cost e8.50 for the day and night. They don't have entertainment at night, only at Christmas etc. i would certainly go back and recommend.

Thank you for your wonderful review on our hotel and also on Limerick. We currently have some great family offers up to Easter and I am glad to hear that you really enjoyed our dedicated kids play room. It is in a brilliant location at the end of the bar area in a enclosed room with floor to glass walls where you can enjoy a drink and dinner in the bar and still be able to see your kids play and have fun. As we are the tallest hotel in Ireland, I am afraid the pool size was the biggest that we could fit. I hope you got to enjoy the other wet areas such as the Sauna, Steamroom and Jacuzzi while you were here. Looking forward to welcoming you and your family back. Kind regards, Ivan Tuohy General Manager

My family and I stayed in the Clarion Hotel this weekend. The hotel overlooks the River Shannon. In fact, the pool and the dining room are actually cantilevered out over the Shannon. We had a wonderful stay there.

Our room was lovely if not very big and we were delighted with our own view out over the famous river, onto one of the bridges of the Shannon up to King John’s Castle, a medieval castle located opposite the famous (or rather infamous) Treaty Stone (on which the treaty of Limerick was signed in 1691). We could have stared out of that window for hours.

We had dinner & breakfast in the hotel which very convenient. The food was good. Breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of variety. The restaurant setting was like being on a film-set in somewhere like New York, looking out the big open windows, at the twinkling lights on the river below and seeing the distant traffic passing across the bridge ahead.

Limerick is small and historic so we were able to do a little shopping as well as visit some of the great sites of Irish history, including (as I mentioned above) the castle and the Treaty Stone in addition to the Daniel O’Connell monument, the Tait clock, the potato market, alms houses dating from 1691, St Mary’s Cathedral built in 1172, the Hunt museum, the city walls, Pery Square's Georgian houses etc. It is possible to walk to most places... though we didn't walk to St John’s Cathedral & the Sarsfield memorial which are slightly longer away from the hotel.

Carparking for the hotel is in the adjacent Europark and there is a reduced charge for that.

We will definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Ask for a view towards the castle if available.
