“Kids Group Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

Stayed at Clarion Limerick last weekend with 18 Adults and 18 Boys ages 10. Rooms were great, attitude of staff was very friendly to both Adults and children. The meals in the Restaurant were excellent as was the service throughout the hotel.

We received excellent value for money and there were no complaints from any of the group. Staff were very helpful and professional, helping us booking activities etc. Location is ideal, adjacent to city centre, main shopping area within short walking distance, easily accessible for our tour bus. Would have no problem recommending this hotel for both groups and individuals. Thanks to the staff and management.

Room Tip: Great river and city views from higher rooms.

Stayed here two nights on an organized tour. The hotels location right on the Shannon River and within walking distance to O'Connell Street, pubs, shopping and restaurants is a definite plus. My negative comments include a small refrigerator in our room that didn't work. The beds were hard and not comfortable for us, but that's a preference issue. We heard that comment from other guests in our tour group. The buffet breakfast was okay, typical of hotel buffet breakfasts we've had so far. Our room was clean but I would say slightly tired due to use. That surprised us since the lobby and outside looked newer. We were at a newer Hilton in Dublin, so that might be part of our issue. Irish rail's Limerick train station is also a short distance to the hotel maybe one mile? Buses such as JJ Kavanagh leave the tourist office at Arthurs Quay to Shannon Airport for five euro. Be aware that Tour groups such as us including groups of teenagers and family's seem to use this hotel. That didn't pose any problems for us. I think this is Easter Holiday??

Thank you for your review. I am happy to read that you found our location on the river and close to the city centre very good. We do have small refrigerators in all our bedrooms however as most guests don’t use them, we actually turn them off. Some guests do request this facility and we gladly turn them on for guest prior to their arrival. We did have Easter holidays over the past 2 weeks and we would cater for many families over these key holiday periods.

This Hotel is in a great location,Park the car and walk around this beautiful City. The staff were very professional. The room was beautiful, very spacious, The shower was OK but I'm not a fan of shower curtains even though it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very nice.I will stay here next time I'm in Limerick.

I have stayed here maybe 5-7 times over the past 2 years altogether maybe 50 nights.
The ++ of this hotel are:
- Location, nicely put next to the river, with a nice view and just a short walk to the city center
- People working there are very nice and helpful
- One of very few hotels in Limerick that is part of the chain (for those that collect points)
The -- of this hotel are:
- Very bad breakfast. I travel a lot and this is one of the worst (selection and quality) I have seen
- The TVs in the room are CRT, so those big ones that people used to have 10 years ago. Again, all hotels I have stayed have LCDs except this one
- Hotel rooms are very average
- Parking is in the next parking house which does not belong to the hotel (although they have a deal with them), which is just not as comfortable as if it would be part of complex (had some difficulties with parking cards)
- Whatever is next to the hotel (some huge piles of iron) just does not look nice, but hotel rooms are position opposite way...

I would stay here again, but it is mostly because of lack of better choices (based on what I heard) rather than loving this hotel. However, having said that, it is a good average hotel...

Thank you for your review. I am happy to read that you are a regular visitor to our hotel and that you find our location and our staff to be very good. I am disappointed to read your comments on breakfast. This is one area that we do receive a lot of positives on, I feel that we have a huge selection of hot & cold options on our buffet and we even have an A la Carte menu with items such as Eggs Benedict, Omelette of your choice, smoked salmon & Scrambled Eggs. I would really appreciate if you could email me at ituohy@clarionhotellimerick.com prior to your next visit to us so that I can ensure that if there is something particular that we are not doing, I can arrange for you. Our tv’s are currently been replaced by new flat screens LCD’s and this should take place by the end of June12. I look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, Ivan Tuohy General Manager

I am part of a 3 man crew on an American Gulfstream Jet. We come to Limerick (approx) 6 times per yr. We used to stay at a less expensive 'chain brand hotel' on Henry Street. But the last 3 times, we stayed at Clarion. When i am not working as a flight attendant, I work at a 4 diamond AAA hotel at home in Providence, RI. So, It's safe to say my standards are quite high. Each time we have stayed here, the staff was fantastic. We love the bartender. He always remembers us by name. We always get a 'welcome back Karen, Gary and Greg! And check in is quick and friendly. You can't beat the views from this place either. Whether it is an evening cocktail or a morning coffee, the deck on the Clarion in Limerick is second to none. The rooms are quite roomy and spotless. If possible, try for a water view on a higher level. My last visit was on floor 11. They are also quite flexible with our frequent request for a late check out. The food in the restaurant is always very good. And the service is outstanding. It is a quick 5 minute walk to downtown. I have been meaning to write a good review for this hotel for over a year now. We are returning to Ireland on April 22nd... and YOU BET WE WILL BE STAYING HERE. Do not hesitate to choose this hotel while in Limerick.

We stay at the Clarion Hotel, Limerick a few weeks ago, it was a lovely relaxing stay. We stayed in the hotel a few years ago and where in a room on the 11th floor which was amazing, the room we stayed in this time was really nice but nothing in comparing to the 11th floor. Bar staff were very helpful as were the restaurant personal.
The only down side is to have to pay for parking which is 8.50 per day and wi-fi isnt very good

Room Tip: 11th floor not 3rd floor

Thank you for your review. Delighted to hear that you had a wonderful stay with us. We are currently in the process of installing 100MB free wifi throughout the hotel. Over the past year, the demand on our system has proven to be outdated due to the high volume of wifi enable units in the marketplace. We recognize the fact that some our guests are now currently using up to 3 wifi units in their hotel bedroom. Our new wifi will be in place by the end of April 12. Looking forward to welcoming you back.
