“Very Good Hotel”
Reviewed 1 September 2010

I recently stayed in the Clarion for a weekend and really enjoyed it. The hotel is so tall - it is spectacular... we had a room up on the 9th floor with views looking over limerick... it was gorgeous... however very good value... I was amazed! we dined in the bar area on Friday after our drive down and loved the food... Asian / Thai food - it was as good as any thai restaurant. Service was average... staff could do with being a bit friendlier (our waiter anyway) but saying that it didnt make any difference to us! bar closes early... shame ... we were just getting in to swing of things when it closed! Breakfast was good the next day too! Our room was spacious and clean - no frills but exactly what you need. I will definitely stay there again as location is great for the city and it was great value. one thing that is a bit unfair... parking is expensive!!

On a hen night recently we stayed at this hotel, we got a fantastic deal for a very reasonable price. the dinner (included in the deal) was superb, the rooms were spotless, the staff were more than helpfull, overall we (23 of us) have not got one complaint to make about this hotel. we didnt have to go into the city at all to have a great night. highly recommended.

I was here on business and would have to agree with many oft he other reviews here on this site. The hotel is alright for a single guest, but certainly not a place I would go by choice.
It´s a party place, which is fine - and the staff take care to put you right once your there...and are happy to give the hotel's gorey recent history in one of the rooms.

Steam Boat Quay (the location of this hotel in Luimerick City) is as bad as it gets. It's known as a crime haven in Limerick (which is bad considering the town is known as stab city!!!), and while I was there a window was smashed of a nearby music store with a keg of beer. There is a skate park that is rife with crime, and I would certainly not bring any of my younger brothers or sisters.

The views are into a typical city docks, and are basic - but fine (Limerick is really small.)

Rooms are basic, but standand for the quality of hotel _ staff are top quality in this hotel though!
As a further tip - watch out for Arthur's Quay Park - one guy tried to grab a bag off me there.

The plus side (again - good advice for the seasoned single traveller) Dolan,s pub across the road makes for an interesting, rough and ready experience.

stayed in Clarion Limerick for one night as part of a group. from the initial group booking stage right throughout our stay everything was put in place for a wonderful stay. I'd like to thank Mary-Clare and her staff for making this a very enjoyable stay.Rooms were spotless and breakfast excellent. i Recommend this hotel for any holiday makers. Despite the fact there were groups of young people staying in the hotel , there was no noise or disturbances to our stay at any stage

We stayed here for two nights in room 1213 which was a great room. The view was right out over the river and beautiful. The shower and bath amenities were very nice. We didn't realise that extra towels are kept in the closet until we called down for more. The beds are very comfortable and breakfast is a buffet but well worth it as the choices offered were plentiful and good. The AC worked well and all the staff were responsive to our needs when asked. My only gripe is that the hotel room service was slow and took 45 minutes to get two orders of Burger and fries to our room. Other than that the location was good, parking was nearby in a parking garage but discounted rate was given to hotel guests and rooms were large and clean. I would stay there again when nearby.

I stayed in the Clarion hotel with friends in July of this year. Despite all the talk of Limerick being a rough city we've never came across a friendlier group of people! From the receptionist in the hotel to the woman in the local shop we found everyone to be polite and helpful. The hotel is in a fab location, overlooking the shannon and right in the city centre which was excellent for shopping and even better for nightlife. The hotel itself was gorgeous, we were on the 9th floor and had a beautiful view but then so did our friends on the 4th floor. The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The only bad thing to say about this hotel is the scrapyard you can see upon arrival, don't be put off - just request when booking to get a room that does not overlook the scrapyard, they take pretty much all requests. All in all a great hotel!
