We attended the restaurant awards that was held in the hotel. They won the best chef in Limerick. We decided we would dine in the restaurant as a treat . From the moment we arrived it was horrendous.

We sat at 930 a party of 7 of us. We received our menus at 10 , food order was taken at 10.20. Not even a jug of wAter or a basket of bread was placed on the table, the service was truly truly awful. We had 3 different waiters. We were asked for our dessert order at the start as we were rudely told the kitchen closes at 10. Most unprofessional move I've ever seen . Starters were lovely. Pork belly , chowder, fish cake, soup and pate were well presented. The Gorgonzola and beet root starter need work, it tasted of fridge and had no real texture. The chutney with the pate was red currant jelly straight from the jar. Very lazy.

The steak was undercooked and was so tough , drenched in over reduced pepper sauce so it was bitter. I ordered it rare it was barely blue with a limp onion ring fired in top of it.
The "mushroom tartlet " was just filo pastry slapped on the plate with cream and mushrooms. No seasoning just sickening rich .The mixed grill was disgusting. Deep fried sausage , undercooked egg, grey steak. The chicken had a tarragon cream sauce which was over reduced again and no flavour at all We're we checked once during our courses? No. Horrendous management.

The desserts were all made in house by the pastry chef Janet so the menu stAted. The passion fruit creme brûlée was vanilla so much so we could see the vanilla seeds. The cheese board biscuits are from la rousse. The neopolitian is from Pallas foods. So disappointed .

We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, they returned 10 minutes later saying we are out of stock but we have this lovely Merlot. Come on learn your wines.

We asked for bread and water a few times the manager rudely snapped saying "the lady has asked for it twice" in other words shut up.

The cosmopolitans were warm and basically cranberry juice.

As people who all work In the industry we were shocked because if the awards were held in our venue we all agreed that you would over staff and make damn sure everything was top notch .

Disgraceful and I hope someone reads this and sorts the staff out. The male waiter was nothing but professional but the girls need to get over themselves and realise they have a job to do and lose the attitude. If they weren't able to cope with the table why take the booking? Our bill was 350euro , it is unfair that this is the level of service and food this hotel is sending out and charging this amount.

“Very disappointing experience”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

Booked the hotel and requested a feather-free room. Arrived early and was told room not ready. Went out for 3 hours and came back- room still not ready! Finally 35 minutes later we got a room-- no working telephone and no power in the rooms!!!! Went back to front desk---no other rooms--- figured out it was a fuse--- still NO telephone in the room 24 hours later! Complained to the front desk this morning--- seems to have fallen on dead ears as we still have no phone!

“Food was amazing”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

Ate here two nights, once for a snack on the first night and the second night for a 3 course meal. The three course meal was top notch, delicious, fresh, tasty and service was very good.

Also would have to note how could the breakfast is here as well if you are staying here.
The variety is unbelieveable.
