Hi there,
Thank you for your lovely review, appreciate you taking the time out to express your satisfaction of Greenes Cafe/Bistro.
Our seafood chowder is certainly very popular and is gluten free to cater for coeliacs and wheat intolerant customers as all of our homemade soups are every day.
Both served with our own brown bread made fresh every day...your right are most definetely worth trying!
Delighted you enjoyed the friendly ambience and look forward to welcoming you back to Greenes in the very near future.
Once again,thank you

“If you are new in Town, go for Breakfast here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2014

Overall this was a very pleasant experience in a 99 year old 3rd generation family business that i would normally walk past and almost did.....
There is a good choice in seating areas, from the outdoors in a pedestrian only street, the ground floor and the magnificent upstairs which was cozy warm, bright and has magnificent stained glass windows and varied intimate seating areas...which invite you to regret not having brought a book to read.
There is a good choice in Breakfast and i like the clear simple pricing especially where one could pick the standard Full Irish breakfast and then slim it to the lower price option.
Our food was served promptly and on proper hot plates, the freshly squeezed chilled orange juice, the brown bread and jams in their own containers all added to the experience.
The staff were friendly and efficient and discretely checked in to see if everything was alright.
So, if you are new in Town especially on a Saturday Morning, why not call down to the Milk Market and then take a short 4 minute stroll up to the corner of William Street and Little Catherine Street for a real breakfast.

Oh,thank you so much for your very kind words....I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your breakfast at Greenes cafe having almost passed us by!!

Yes,your absolutely right the little things like homemade jams/marmalade and freshly baked brown bread make all the difference indeed!

Glad you enjoyed the pleasant ambience, the magnificent stained glass windows you admired are over a hundred years old,an heirloom from my grandfather (the founder)who acquired them from the college of Art and Design many years ago.

I Look very much forward to welcoming you back to Greenes some time very soon, once again thanks. .

“Great service & food with top staff ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

I have to say I genuinely look forward to visiting Greene's which is located just off William street. The food is always very tasty and good value for money. The roast of the day, homemade soups and scrumptious desserts are all part of a menu that constantly delivers above expectations.

As a coeliac, I am always blown away by how in tune all of the staff are with various dietary requirements. The staff are always incredibly welcoming and accommodating. It is impressive that management make an effort to speak to as many customers as possible, the personal touch is very evident.

To conclude, I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Greene's to my family and friends. The combination of great food, superb staff, good prices and warm staff make a visit to Greene's a real treat when I visit limerick city.

“Lovely restaurant in the heart of Limerick city.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2013

I have visited many coffee shops and restaurants in Limerick city over the years, but keep returning to Greene's in Little Catherine Street. The food is always fresh, well cooked and presented. The price is reasonable and competitive. The one thing that differentiates Greene's from the rest that I have visited is the strong formation of relationships with customers, who are always greeted with friendliness, a smile, and regulars are often acknowledged by name. In lots of other places, it's just a service transaction where some staff body language can speak volumes. With Greene's the staff are very interactive with their customers, helpful and will often carry a tray to a table for people. It's nice to sit in the outdoor area, take time to relax within the warm heartbeat of Limerick city and sense that you are a valued customer. I would highly recommend Greene's for residents and visitors to Limerick city. (See below bar n/a)
