“Small and Intimate”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

Stayed at Boutique Hotel late July. Was very impressed by Diarmuid on reception. He was relaxed and welcoming and gave us helpful local information we didn't even think of asking for. The room was small but clean and pretty. Beds were comfortable. It is near a nightclub so you will hear the drone at weekends but not loud enough to keep you awake. It didn't disturb us at all. Cute little breakfast room where we were offered whatever we wanted from the breakfast menu. Great value for the price and excellent location for city shopping!

Room Tip: rooms at back of hotel are the quietest.

The boutique hotel is conveniently located in the centre of the town, from it you can walk to many interesting sites. Car park is available at affordable prices 20 meters away.

The room is of sufficient size, not like the shower that is definitively not for the XXLs. In addition to the private toilets, some immaculate though shared toilets are available, that e.g. prevent you from disturbing your room mate in using the toilets while she washing her teeth. There is also a shared computer in addition to Wi-Fi.

Noise on Friday night is not such a concern once you make sure your room is on the church side, not on the street side or, worse of all, on the car park side.

The receptionist was remarkably helpful to provide hints about restaurants, pubs and places to see, that were not mentioned in tourists' guides.

Room Tip: On Friday and Saturday nights there is pubs with music operating nearby, then choose the quieter roo...

Dear WilliamKellett,

Thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us! Our central location in the heart of Limerick city is the ideal base for exploring the city and its nightlife! We are glad to you enjoyed your time here; lunch in O’Connells, dinner in the River Bistro & Bunratty castle if I remember correctly! I would also personally like to thank you for the voucher for lunch you gave me - I haven’t gotten around to using it yet, but will do so in the near future.

Hopefully we will see you again in the near future, it was an absolute pleasure having you both as guests.

Many thanks again,
Diarmuid

Staff in your hotel is very professional and friendly.
They gave us useful advices about parking and places to visit in Limerick.

Little bit noisy tonight because of bars on the nearest streets.

I'd woken up to my mother screaming my name and a strainer tried to get into bed beside me.. That's how I remember my stay at the Boutique hotel, Limerick.

It took myself and my mother about 10 min to get a lunatic out of our room, after he had forced the door opened while we were sleeping. Everytime we manage to get him out and close the door he'd push his way back in. By the time security got to ourroom from our screaming, the snake had disappeared...The security guard was uninterested in the strange man that was trying to get into our room, he was about to slyly slip away until my mother asked him what he was going to do about this...All the so called security guard could say was, "well he is gone now"...

Due to our midnight encounter and the staff at the hotel afraid that we would see the culprit at breakfast time, asked if we would like breakfast in our rooms.

That definitely wasnt in the brochure!!!

Dear Lindsay_Di,

Firstly I would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us in January, however I am disappointed to hear that you had a less than enjoyable stay with us. The incident which you experienced was one which we took very seriously, and we are disappointed that this “stranger” ruined your stay with us.

After your departure, we organised a member of our maintenance team to check the lock on your bedroom door for damage etc. None was found and the door was deemed to be working correctly. We believe that perhaps you accidentally left the door slightly ajar/open and this drunken stranger simply decided to try opening the door to your room. Furthermore, we have since placed a notice on all key-fobs asking guests to close doors firmly behind them to avoid any such occurrences happening again in the future.

I would like to invite you to come back and stay with us again in the heart of Limerick, so that we can show you the true standards that our hotel operates to, and that your experience is certainly not the norm. Please feel free to contact me on 061 315-320.

Kind Regards
Diarmuid

This was the worst "hotel" I have ever stayed in, I don't think it even deserves to be called a hotel, more like a youth hostel! We decided to stay for one night in Limerick for some shopping, the location is brilliant for this. Although when we came back from our meal and a few drinks around midnight we were left standing outside for around 10 minutes until the girl at reception came to unlock the door, our room was at the front and we were kept awake all night long with people shouting and singing in the streets. The room was tiny, we had to walk sideways to get around the bed... Can safely say that I won't be booking this hotel ever again... No parking either, so we had to park on the street worried all night that something would happen to our car. Then to top it all off, the housekeepers decided to have their morning meeting right outside our door and woke us up really early after it took us so long to get to sleep!

Having read some of the other reviews I think that we were lucky. We had two rooms at the back of the hotel so were not disturbed too much. The room was absolutely fine - nothing special, but OK for a one night stay. The hotel is quirky and there is a lounge where you can help yourself to free tea and coffee. The young man who checked us in could not have been more pleasant and helpful. He gave us enough information to keep us going for a week! There is a pleasant breakfast room like a conservatory overlooking the street. Breakfast was fine and we were served quickly. The hotel has no car park but there is a public car park nearby and you may be lucky to find a space on the street. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I do think that it is more geared for young party goers, not mature couples like us.

Room Tip: Emphasise when you book that you want a quiet room if you want to sleep.
