My family, including 3 children stayed at the ballyhoura forest luxury accommodation for 4 nights. We were greeted by Mary on arrival and given clear concise directions on how the house 'worked'. The house was comfortable and clean, but most important, so relaxing in its forest setting. There were 3 different small playgrounds very close to the house to keep the kids occupied during down time. A lovely loop walk from the house around the vicinity, and a great pub just a 5 minute walk away. No shops nearby (nearest about 4 miles away) but once you arrive stocked up its no problem. Couldn't fault the accommodation or our hosts
Ballyhoura Forest Luxury Homes ticks all the right boxes for a great family holiday. So much to do right on your doorstep including mountaing biking at the Ballyhoura MTB trails (less than 10 mins away), horse riding stables and mountain hacks, miles of great hill walking with way marked loops and stunning scenery. There is also a wealth of local heritage to see including lough Gur, an ancient irish settlemrnt that has been inhabitited for more than 6000 years.
With Cork and Limerick Citys accessible for day trips in under an hour it makes the ballyhoura a very central location.
John and Mary are excellent hosts, the accomodation is is beautiful, with everything you would need for your stay including self catering kitchen 3 ensuite double bedrooms, wifi and sky tv. This is our second time to stay here and I'm sure it wont be the last.
Just returned from a three night stay in Ballyhoura luxury homes. Highly recommend it if you want to escape the hustle & bustle! The houses are literally in the forest, such beautiful scenary & fresh mountain air. Lovely houses, fully equipped with everything you need, three bedrooms all ensuite with power showers & Sky TV. Mary & John are very inviting & meet you on arrival. My six year old boy just loved the outdoors, the zip wire in the playground, spotting the rabbit outside in the mornings & the cows behind our house! A very chilled out relaxing break in a beautiful part of the world.
Nice comfortable Lodge with all mod cons. Stove was very welcome as our Saturday was wet and cold so we all got comfy around the lovely fire. Ideal for our needs which was a family get together. Lovely local pub for a couple of drinks on the Friday night. Overall enjoyable stay and would recommend for families or friends.

Lovely location and most of the homes look great on the outside. Great walks and views and a number of things within travelling distance to do with kids.
We booked through Groupon and so got to stay for a discounted rate. We are left wondering if the problems we had are because of this.
On arrival there was no one there to check-in with. We were left sitting in the car with 3 young children wondering what to do. Phone reception was very poor so getting in touch with the owner was difficult. When we eventually did he told us we would have to wait for another 20mins for somebody to arrive. Luckily it wasn't raining and we had wellies with us so the children could play on the zip line and swing. Litter was lying around and unsavoury graffiti was plastered over the wooden frames but at least it put in the time. The lady who arrived was lovely and she tried her best to put a welcome pack together for us.
The house we were in was grubby with well stained sofas and rug and towels that were tatty and musty. It also lacked basics like hand soap at the sinks and spare toilet tissue.
We had a couple of issues that needed resolving during our stay and to contact the owner we needed to load the children into the car and drive to where we could get a signal. Thankfully we had no emergencies at night.
Having said all this the homes are in a beautiful setting. Very relaxing and the forest and surrounding countryside is idyllic. Worth a visit but be well prepared to be self sufficient.
Luxury houses with amazing comfort (3 bathrooms combined with 3 bedrooms ! ). During our stay for 9 days we really felt that we were travelling around in a special part of the world that we came to know as "The Pinnacle". We also walked the Ballyorgan Loop and even visited the cliffs of Moher. The food served at the quite cheap restaurant in Kilfinane "Molly's" was of a high quality. Our visits to Fermoy were also very worthwhile. Over there we met very friendly local people who now feel like brothers and sisters to us.
