“Surpassed Expectations!”
Reviewed 11 November 2010

Just returned from spending 2 nights in the Limerick Strand hotel for my sister's hen night. About 20 of us stayed and what a great place. It ticked all our requirements - spa, great bar, dedicated areas, great food, spacious rooms and walking distance to all amenities. Going on a hen I wasn't expecting to be greated with open arms but from the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally well. Some 5 star hotels could learn a thing or two from the staff in the Strand. Most of our group agreed that we would love to go back for a weekend with our other halves!

I have just returned from Limerick having run a business meeting but with large social element for about 100 delegates. Firstly the staff in the Strand were universally friendly, helpful and professional. IT facilities and meeting rooms were excellent.
All rooms were very comfortable, food was very good, and our Saturday night dinner was in the beautiful setting of the rooftop dining room with views over the city.
All this and excellent value for money

Was there to meet college friends last night. Nice clean and modern hotel. Great location- 2 minute walk to city centre. Lovely views of city from our room. Comfortable beds. Had massage in spa attached which was lovely. Nice friendly staff. Used pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room also. Discounted parkin 5euro for the day which was fine. Shower in our room wasn't great (room 506). It was hard to regulate temperature of the water as the slightest tap seemed to make it extremely hot or cold- hard to find an in between. Only other fault was the food. We had dinner there and I ordered the veggie option even though i'm not a vegetarian. It was canneloni which was lovely but the portion was absolutely tiny and there was no veg or potatoes with it- good thing the waitress had left the bread basket! All in all though, we really enjoyed our stay there and will probably use this hotel as our meeting point from now on.

When all the glitter and extras are put aside, a hotel has one primary job: to provide a good night's sleep. The Limerick Strand failed miserably in this regard. The nightmare of any traveler is the loud party in the next room or across the street. Well, how about the loud party in the bar below your room - a party sactioned by the hotel!

We checked into the Limerick on a Thursday and even though I am always leery of a room on a low floor, all was well the first night. Unfortunately, the next night was Friday and the Limerick had a live and loud band playing in the lounge below our room. We could hear the music clearly, even though we were actually two floors above the lounge - I really felt sorry for those poor souls on the floor below us.

Somethings are beyond the control of the management of a hotel. However, in this case the hotel WAS the problem. They hired a loud band to attact people into their lounge, knowing that said band would disturb their own paying guests. There is no excuse for this.

Do not stay at this hotel. They have no concept of the responsibilities of a hotelier.

we recently stayed for 2 nights our first trip with our 3 month baby, the staff are very friendly and helpful on all occasions for breakfast and dinner they found us a nuce quite spot for the buggy so that the baby would not be disturbed and if he did wake we were not worried about annoying other guests.the room was big even with the travel cot, buggy etc we had loads of room.for families with chilldren of any age this hotel was very child friendly there were loads of other families staying also but not that you would take notice as there was no extra noise.it is a short walk into city centre also so very convienent.rooms were spotless as was the hotel, and the leisure centre and pool were lovely.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at The Strand Hotel in Limerick as part of our multi-city package booked through the Aer Lingus vacation store. We received a great hotel rate for our stay there & enjoyed Limerick so much we decided to stay an extra night, which the staff was more than willing to accommodate the change. The hotel itself is in a great location, right along the Shannon river. Its very quiet in the evening for sleeping and the location makes pretty much everything we wanted to see within walking distance, allowing us to leave the car in the garage during our entire stay (parking ended up being complimentary by the hotel, a definite plus)! There are great amenties, including a sauna, pool, exercise facility, spa. The exercise facility actually offers free classes to their guests, including Body pump, so awesome! Out of the three hotels we stayed at in Ireland, The Strand had by far the best breakfast, everythng was hot and delicious and there were more than enough options, searing in the morning even though they were very busy was fast. We would eat a big breakfast in the morning and then just eat a light lunch to tide us over until dinner. Our room was very spacious, the linens and bathroom were very clean and everything has been updated, so its all very modern. The rooms come with tea and biscuits, along with a hot pot. We had large windows that took up much of one wall which was very nice. The glass elevators going down to the lobby provided an excellent view of the city and Shannon River. I highly recommend this hotel! Our stay was PERFECT!
