5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2013 via mobile

Found this hotel by accident, using a hotel booking website. Booked “ Madness Deal” Quite a find !! Easy to find. Parking nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good rooms - large and very clean. Best surprise was the excellent hotel restaurant. The food is good restaurant quality, at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. We will stay here again.
Main good points:
· Great wifi- fantastic speed.
· Great restaurant.
· Great cocktails.
· Fantastic location.
· Great treatment rooms.

I stayed here over St Patrick's Weekend with my husband and another couple. Staff were helpful and friendly at all times. However, on arrival I was given my room card, only to discover that the room was already occupied. Could have been an embarrising moment for all concerned. Also we booked a weekend break with one evening meal included, only to be told that it consisted of just two courses from a very limited menu. When I queried this, we were told that on this occasion we could choose 3 courses. However, one of our meals (a fish dish) was totally raw. Unfortunately, the guest who recieved this has been very ill (hence the reason for our break away) and had she consumed it, the consequences could have been serious. Management did apologise and offered a replacement plus a drink on the house. When, I brought the seriousness of this to their attention, I was told "you got two free deserts" (I'm assuming this was because only two of us opted for dessert). Breakfast was very basic, and on the second morning (about 9.30am) there was no brown bread. Room was ok, but pillows very uncomfortable, and the toilet paper was like sandpaper. I think a 3 star would be apt for this hotel. No parking at the hotel, however we were able to avail of parking in a public carpark a few yards from the hotel, which cost 15euro for the two days. Despite all this, I would have to complement the staff for their friendliness.

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment on your stay at The George Boutique Hotel, Limerick City.

We had looked into your booking and you stayed with us having purchased the package from a tour operator who predetermine the variety in the menu offered to their clients. We ourselves offer a very extensive A La Carte Menu which has received many kind reviews.

I am delighted that our staff offered you the deserts and a free glass of wine when you were disappointed with the package you had bought and I commend them for being so attentive.

Our Chef assures me that the fish was not raw but may have been undercooked for your taste.

Our breakfast selection is extensive offering both continental and full Irish options. Traditional Porridge and locally sourced artisan breads are also on offer and all our meat products are supplied from a local butcher shops and nearby farms.

We thank you for complimenting our staff on their friendliness.

Our thanks to you for bringing these matters to our attention.

Kind Regards

Stayed here recently with my three siblings and elderly mother for my sisters 50th, had a great experience from check in. Staff in all areas couldn't have been more helpful. The place was hopping the whole time and they continued to be courteous and humorous throughout. Even though there were a few hen parties and stags going on over the weekend the staff made sure everyone was happy. Great value to be had, buffet breakfast €5 and 3 course dinner for 2 with bottle of wine for €50- all food was excellent. Hope to be back, book early to avoid disappointment!

The toilets at reception were smelly, dirty and had no toilet paper. The toilet paper in our room was the cheapest roughest stuff. The breakfast was only ok. The coffee was un-drinkable. There were no toiletries.

I was very disappointed with this so-called 4 star boutique hotel. Way too over priced. I have stayed in much nicer B&B'S.

On a positive note, the room was clean & the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Thermostats are set too high at 24C, it might be helpful to turn this off or open a window so you d...

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment on your stay at The George Boutique Hotel, Limerick City. We take all feedback very seriously as it is through these comments we can improve on the service we offer to you, our guests.

Thank you for complimenting our staff for being so friendly and the cleanliness of the rooms.

We have a very busy coffee trade in the hotel and this is the first time in 9 years somebody has criticised our offering. Our coffee is freshly ground for each customer served, 100% rain forest alliance and is from the same product range as supplied by many leading high street coffee specialists.

We provide well known branded toiletries in all rooms for our guests.

Please be assured that our toilets are never ‘smelly’ or ‘dirty’ but you may have caught them ‘having a moment’ between cleans, which occurs minimally every hour and for this I do apologise.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies and our thanks to you for bringing these matters to our attention.

Kind Regards

My son and I stayed here for one night over St. Patricks weekend, and what a treat!
Our room was clean, spacious and trendy and the beds were really comfortable! The staff are a real asset to this boutique hotel, attentive, welcoming and friendly at all times. We ate at the restaurant and are still talking about the fantastic food and excellent service! We ordered the Steak (huge! tender and mouth watering!) and the burger (tastiest I have ever eaten)! Great Value too! Central location with a car park around the corner. There is a great buzz in this hotel, and a great atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This is a fabulous hotel set in the heart of Limerick city. Everything you need is on your doorstep. The rooms are of great quality with plush carpet throughout the hotel. We had cocktails here before going out and they're well worth the try. We had a room only basis and between 6 of us, two triple rooms, it worked out at €26 per person. We were well impressed. :) Definitely worth the stay. And don't forget to get onto the staff in advance as they have an allowance in some car park that gives really cheap overnight parking.
