“Nice place to stay - close to town - good hospitality”
Reviewed 4 August 2012

Ken was very nice and he is a Master Chef, so the breakfast was good. The room was small, but workable. The beds are fairly hard, so that could be better. But the place is clean and it was a good value. I think I got an Irish discount - see it helps being Irish in life. This is a value type of B&B. The B&B is close to town and an easy taxi ride to and from town, although Ken was nice enough to give us a ride to dinner in-town. The B&B is on a main road and easy to access from the highway. I'd recommend this B&B just for the hospitality.

This B&B isn't the most advertised or easiest to find links on the web, but it was one of the easiest to arrange booking for once you email them. So it's a hidden value type of B&B.

About the area:
- Bunratty Castle was a fun place to visit - a large park like attraction with more than just the castle. The castle is a fun place to tour around and not to missed for area attractions. It's a short drive from the B&B. If you can book the medieval dinner do so; we didn't have time but it's an event lasting several hours. Don't forget to checkout the oldest pub too.
- Dolans Restaurant and Bar. Great value and good food. A nice pub near the docks/river. They had a small band playing folk/traditional music. We had a nice meal and some fun. Good pub style atmosphere. We looked at at least 10 places before going to this pub, and by far this was the correct choice. When in Limerick this should be on your list for places to eat.
- We visited Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. Beautiful area to see and I think offered more fun things to do than the Limerick area. It seemed to us that Limerick was not very active - not many people out and about - maybe it's suffering from the bad economy. Galway was alive and so much fun.

Hard bed, small cold room, no hot water, dining room was freezing for breakfast, asked for scrambled eggs & toast for breakfast but got a fry with scrambles eggs, yoghurts were 4 days out of date. This B&B really could do with a womans touch.

We arrived after dark, in the snow. The owners graciously advised us places to walk to for dinner. We chose to stay in and eat things we had with us. He had been a master chef, so our breakfast was wonderful. We were only here one night, the next morning off to Bunratty Castle (10 - 15 easy minutes drive) and then on to Dublin to return home. They are very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and well decorated, with new shower and updated bathroom. We would stay here again if ever in Limerick.

We stayed in 8 B&Bs over a 10 day period. Our experience at Armada was among the most personal. We took the time to talk to the owners and found out so much more about the area and about them than just treating them as hotel managers. The house was not the fanciest place we stayed but the owners made it the most relaxing. It is easy to find, close to city center, same road as Bunratty and Shannon airport. We ended up staying at this house for 2 nights before we flew home. Key is to not be snooty and spoiled and relax and take things as they are in Ireland!

Small room, old worn beds, doesn’t look clean. Small shower didn’t drain requiring to stand outside it.
