As a regular visitor to this busy local spot i can probably comment on everything on the menu...however i'll let you taste for yourselves just how good the food is! If you're lucky enough to have planned in advance (very hard to get a last minute booking unless you want to eat at 4pm on a Thursday) you'll find a buzzing place, set in a quiet enough spot just far enough out of the town that you can still walk to the main street should you ever want to leave this place.
The menu is full of the kind of food you'd love someone to cook for you at home but they never do...and it wouldn't be this good even if they did! Having eaten here a lot, however, i do think the menu needs some up-dating, especially the desserts which to me are somewhat of a slight let-down after the choice of mains. There are always regular specials however, often made with locally grown produce or in-season specialities so this helps, and really i think this is the whole ethos of the place, to use whats available at the time.
The place always seems to be buzzing, very busy and you can sometimes wait a while for your table (no one wants to leave) but there is a nice little bar to keep you amused with some great drinks on offer.
Wines are good and many are sold by the glass and i always think the meal is great value for quality. If you haven't been here yet, or if you're staying locally on holiday, even if you live towards Dublin, this place is definitely worth at least one trip! And if you can't get the booking you want do try their bakery/wine bar only a few doors away which, depending on what time of day it is, sells the most delicious coffee and cakes or wines and nibbles.
