“Good food and ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014 via mobile

The Black Bull Inn was recommended to us as we were staying close by. A very popular venue as it was quite crowded but this did not deter the staff from providing excellent service. Our food was delicious and there was clean plates all round with thumbs up from one of our "fussy" eaters. Will be paying a visit next time we are in the area

“Excellent service & decor; food so-so”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2014

The best service at any non-fine dining establishment we've ever had in Ireland/Northern Ireland -- as good as Bella Notte in Lexington Kentucky: had to flag down servers for a couple needs during the course of the evening, none of whom were our table's captain and they all came immediately and immediately took personal responsibility for getting what we wanted, that is, they didn't simply tell our captain or go tend to their section's tables first. Mise'd table nicely, including fresh napkins (and the first course setting had 2 napkins ! per place -- at some places you don't even get 1 napkin without having to ask for it).

Eclectic but comfortable decor. Lots of different rooms.

€85 =
1. Gambas Portuguese prawn app was great -- 3 giant prawns.
2. Garlic bread was good but only 2 small triangles.
3. Fish & chips -- good.
4. 2 orders of Tagliatelle: was basically a fettuccine carbonara -- definitely a rich heavy winter dish -- good.
5. burger -- good.
6. child's sausage plate -- good.
7. choc ice cream -- was very good quality and nice presentation.
8. 2 orders of crumble -- disappointing: tasted like warmed up applesauce with some crumbs that were not really baked.
9. 2 coffees -- good.
10. Guinness

“Great crew & great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Arrived late from a show in Dublin, with a party of 8. Staff could not have been more helpful & attentive. My dairy intolerence was catered for discreetly & the red Thai curry was delicious! The main fish courses of two in our party required re-heating, and this was sorted immediately & professionally. Well done to all!

“Good grub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Visited Christmas Eve and three of us had the beef whilst another had the kid's burger.

Beef was very nice considering how busy it was. There was plenty on our plate and all were pleased.

The kid's burger (and chips) was very good and would be enough for many adults.

Ice cream and pavlova deserts also received a thumbs up.

Service was efficient although we had to ask to move table as our original one was inadequate for four people. The request was met with courtesy which is to be commended.

The Black Bull is what it is; good quality carvery style food with good staff.

“Delicious again. ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013 via mobile

Visited without booking and got treated like royalty.

Very pleasant staff. It was extremely busy but nothing was too much effort.

We got seated in the Chinese restaurant and had plenty of room to ourselves.

The Thai red curry was ordered and service was brilliant. It came out so quickly and was delicious and piping hot.

This is one of the best value for money restaurants in drogheda.

I can never get enough!
