“Tale of the missing runner”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2009

Stayed here one night on a quick midweek getaway from Dublin. It was the cheapest "4*" place around and that really should have been an indication of things to come.
Restaurant was closed even though it was a Thurday night so we ate in the bar - average pub grub.
Room was basic and bathroom definately needed a clean. Didn't have to worry about the view becuase the window was too dirty to see out of and the smell of damp/'smelly feet wasn't exactly condusive to a romantic evening! Worse was to come the next morning as himself was tucking into a cold fry and stumbled upon the source of the odour......a previous guests runner abandoned under the breakfast table. In the cold light of day, both it and the room around us spoke volumes.....pass...

Myself and my partner went into the D Hotel for a meal last night which was by no means full, only about 5 tables being used, we sat down and went through the menu for about 10-15 mins and decided what we were going to order, no sign of any staff approaching us, waited for another 10 mins still no sign, caught some staffs eye-contact, no approach, ny partner went to the toilet and came back, no sign of staff, I went to the toilet and came back still no staff approaching, they were not busy, at this stage we got our coats and left. Very strange in this economic climate that staff would ignore you, never again, they can stick their food.

Lovely Hotel in a great location. Drogheda has really developed into a lovely town over the past few years, with a great mix of restaurants, shopping, bars etc and the D Hotel adds such leverage to the town.
Great hotel, excellent service & top quality chicken wings... we will be returning again & again & again..
Great ready for us..

We stayed here last night and to be honest, for the price, the hotel is complete value for money and well worth a visit.

Good Points
* Excellent staff - especially in the bar and upon check out -
* You must have a strawberry Mojito - easily one of the nicest cocktails I have EVER had!
* The location is fabulous - Drogheda is abundant with shops and eateries will definately be back
* The price - even the penthouse is the same price as a normal room in a 5* hotel

Bad Points
* The Superior rooms are very basic and I agree with another reviewer regarding the Ikea vibe - not great at all - treat yourself and book the penthouse
* The food - we ate in the bar and the chicken wings were to die for - aviod the steak - not good quality
* The bathrooms are very basic also
* No iorn in the rooms and no extra pillows
* The windows were very dirty and spoiled the view

Overall I would return to this hotel as its in a fabulous location and the staff are professional and extremely attentive - will just make sure next time I upgrade to a better room - well worth a visit and so close to Dublin

all in all - a good experience

Me and my GF stayed at The D Hotel while going to Dublin to watch Ireland match. decided to stay out of town to avoid the hussle and busle of Dublin city.

Very found the D hotel very nice indeed. Everything about the hotel is very modern. The bar is overlooking the river, Layout is good and spacious. We didnt eat in restaurant as we didnt have time.

The rooms are the best bit. Really funky design, Wooden bed frame with a sheep skin blanket. Cool lighting.

The hotel has no leisure facilitys other than a small mini gym but if your staying for the shopping your rite next door to a massive shopping complex!!
