A lovely "hotel" nestled in a lakeside setting, with many extras, gym, free (excellent) breakfast, a most helpful staff, not to mention a very reasonable price, we would stay here again, and again, etc.

We were self catering. Near our room there was a shared kitchen with an oven, fridge, teabags, kettle and milk. Plenty of towels in the room. Helpful friendly staff. Really nice scenic loop walk nearby. Town is within walking distance. Great value for money!

Second time we stayed at Lough Lannagh. We rented two cottages here for a 3-day paddling trip. 10 minute walk from Castlebar (very close to tesco and aldi). Lots of facilities, lovely houses and very catering staff. Great trip!

I was in the area for a school reunion and found that single rooms in the hotels were too expensive. Found Lough Lanagh on booking.com and was delighted with the welcome and facilities there. Everything was spotlessly clean and my room comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was better than usually experienced in Irish guesthouses. My friend came late for breakfast but they cooked it fresh for her which was above and beyond the call of duty.

Highly reccommend this guest house.

Room Tip: No problems here. Out of town so if drinking, taxi is necessary, but not expensive.

Booked last minute as we were having a quick over night stay in Castlebar. We greeted at reception by a very warm welcome and showed to our room which was lovely and spacious with a comfy bed. Given lots of detail on how to get around and even a map and directions into town. Walked into town by the lake which is a beautiful place all tarmaced for running or walking. Had dinner in Cox's bar on the recommendation of Lough Lannagh and also the taxi driver and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Finished off the night in Rocky's Bar to live music and lots of craic. Breakfast was really good the following morning and you could have second helpings if you wished. Would definitely stay again.

I want to thank Paul for his warm welcome, upon our arrival. The cottage wasn't ready, so he encouraged us to go first to one of two recommended pubs, Bar One on Rush St. or Cox's on Tucker St. He offered to pay for our meal too.The cottage was spotless. We had five adults and a four year old. The beds were so very comfortable. Together with the quiet surroundings, I haven't slept so well in years.
The play area for my grandson was an early morning treat, as was the lake walk.
I came in search of my family's birthplaces and found a gracious host and warm welcome throughout Castlebar and Turlough
The only recommendation would be investment in larger hot water heaters. But that is true throughout Ireland. It won,t keep me from coming back. I loved every minute.

Room Tip: We stayed in a lovely cottage named Davitt

I've stayed at Lough Lannagh on two occasions. The first time was at the end of May when my son and I used the campsite for 3 nights, the second was following a canoe trip on Lough Corrib with a group of 12 paddlers.

The camping areas are slightly elevated and pretty flat making good pitches. Your right beside the gym of which you have full access to....not on this trip. Water, toilet and showering facilities are close by and very clean, you do have to share them with the caravan/mobile home users.
We had great weather and enjoyed 3 lovely evenings sitting outside our tent.

I spent another night there in August with a group of paddlers. We had booked the large conference hall rather than campsite but instead were given 3 rooms in the main building at the same rate.
The staff were all very helpful and the accommodation was excellent for what we paid. The price also included a very good breakfast, just what was needed after a night out in Castlebar.

The general area has a lot to offer, Castlebar is great for shops, pubs, restaurants and has good cinema as well. Lough Lannagh village sits right on the Lough and is really pretty with a nice path to follow around the lough. If your trip includes a stop in the Castlebar area then you'll not go far wrong staying at the Lough Lannagh Holiday Village.

Pete
