A warm welcome with tea/coffe and homemade scones and a helpful hostess with great advices about the area !

The room were not big but it was enough for us with tea/coffee facilities, TV and comfortables beds. The bathroom was quite big with all the necessary (soaps, shampoo, cottons, ...).

For the breakfast you have choice between different menus and it was delicious !
We really enjoyed our stay at windermere house and would recommend at anyone staying in Castlebar !

I would highly suggest that you stay in Windermere House any time that you come to Castlebar! Kay and her family go literally above and beyond to ensure that each and every detail of your stay is to your preference, and they do everything that they can to ensure that your stay in their home, and indeed, in their town, is FABULOUS! Make Windermere your first choice for lodging in Castlebar!

The Windermere House was delightful. The B&B and our room were spotlessly clean, charming, and quiet. Kay is the very gracious hostess and made us feel right at home, as soon as we arrived. We felt like family, for the days we were there. She suggested places to see, visit, and shop and recommended wonderful restaurants. We just enjoyed walking around Castlebar. Now, I could write a paragraph on Kay's breakfast, but absolutely delicious will have to do. We still dream about the fresh, homemade scones - and the scone "snack" she sent with us so we wouldn't starve on our travels. Need I say more?

Although our stay was only for a day - it was most pleasant, our host Kay welcomed us warmly & our room & was spacious & comfortable & lovely bathroom too. A delicious breakfast & places of interest tips from Kay the next day sent us on our way to explore the county further.

Mary Beth and I had good fortune of vacationing in Ireland in October 2009 and in September 2010. We stayed mostly in B and Bs, and of all that we visited in those two trips, Windermere House was one of the very best. We simply could not return to Ireland without staying at Windermere House a second time.

Upon arrival, owner Kay McGrath greets guests with tea and freshly backed scones, and those scones are to die for— the very best in all of Ireland. The house is superbly maintained, rooms are well appointed, and Kay is a wonderful hostess. Fine breakfasts are served in a dining room filled with interesting collectibles representing the owner’s own travels abroad.

Windermere house is ideally located for visiting Westport, Newport, and all the Clew Bay area, including Clare Island and the Famine Monument south of Louisburg. And the city of Castlebar is only a few kilometers away.

When you go there be sure to play with Dixie, the wonderful dog who loves to play Gaelic football. Like her humans, she is a delight.
