Description: An Port Mór Restaurant is run by Chef-Proprietor Frankie Mallon. Our philosophy is to use seasonal, artisan produce from local suppliers. House specialities include pot roasted pigs cheeks with black pudding & apple and vanilla sauce and 21 day dry-aged sirloin. The main emphasis is, however, on local fresh seafood and shellfish, particularly lobster, crab, scallops and langoustines fresh from the west coast of Ireland, especially Clew Bay.

“Unmissable”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Went here on a recent trip to Westport based on the good reviews on TA. An Port Mor did not disappoint. We had an early reservation, but the place was busy probably because of the early bird offering. The menu choice was excellent and there was no difficulty in accommodating some dietary requirements we had. We both had starters, mains and desserts. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Portion size was just right so we left feeling satisfied and contented but not too full. Only one of us took wine, a half bottle of white, and it seemed to be very good value for what turned out to be a very tasty white. Coffee was excellent. At the end of the meal we were given a plate of delicious petit fours and a glass of excellent home made Limoncello. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, the only tiny quibble being that it was a tad slow toward the end of the meal when the restaurant was really full.
The venus is small and intimate but not too much so - there was plenty of room between us and the adjacent tables. However if you are very large (!) or have a wheelchair or baby buggy you might have some difficulty here. It isn't a place we would bring our children too (too small) but we will certainly be back. Great experience.

“Very Good Restaurant in Westport”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

If your in Westport and looking for somewhere to eat I would certainly recommend An Port Mor as the food and service are very good. We went as a couple and had the Hake and Lamb and both were well presented and tasted delicious. For desert we had the chefs selection and again it was excellent. For such a fine restaurant the only very small criticism was the paper table cloths but would I go there again definitely yes.

“Food, Staff and setting all amazing.”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Ate here recently as part of a hen and had an amazing evening and meal in this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful - happy to answer all queries and offer suggestions. The menu was great - so many tasty and interesting options. The food was delicious and the presentation was excellent. Would definitiely love to eat here again to try some other things on the menu. Not a cheap place to eat but for a special occasion worth it.

“Great place - highly recommended. But book early!”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

We managed to get a booking at 6pm this evening and it was worth it. The special starters were fab; especially the baked oysters! The main courses were equally excellent - turbot and the
lamb. The lamb was cooked just perfectly - over pink (as I asked!). Had the warm chocolate cake - which is to die for! The service was just as good, particularly the man and the woman with long dark hair. She was particularly helpful and just right on the non intrusion front / taking time to talk.
This is a really busy restaurant and once you eat there you can see why. Many people had to be turned away, whether they walked in or was on the phone. We sat near the counter - not intrusive to us. However, where the staff could they tried to do everything to accommodate requests, checking cancelations, suggesting alternative times or squeezing bookings between others. They even suggested other restaurants in town, adding a comment on cuisine etc. Well done staffies !
Really enjoyed this and highly recommended.
Sadly the atmosphere is not as good as the food - a bit knooks and crannies.

“Pretty good”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Main advice is that you must book as this is a very popular place - however, try to sit downstairs as there is an upstairs that's cut off from the main part. Having said that, the food was very good and the atmosphere was helped by the other (friendly) diners. Excellent service helped soften the blow that prices here are similar to London!
