Stayed here with husband and young baby on midweek break. We must have been youngest there by 30 years! Many retired couples on midweek deals staying in hotel. First impression is of a modern building modelled on the old style. The lobby is large but decor is terrible. Dark red walls and dark blue carpet and cheapish looking furniture. Check in was efficient. We checked into room early. We had a few bags and buggy but received no offer of help to ship bags up to the room and the receptionist obviously saw us struggling. The room was a deluxe room. It was fine. The advertised "Spectacular views of Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay" More like a view of the car park - not great. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall beside the bed and again the furniture was cheap in the room. The remote control did not work properly for TV. The hot tap in sink did not work properly either. There as DVD player in room. Spa was nice - pool is vitality pool and 2 degrees cooler than usual leisure centre pool. Had a nice treatment and relaxation area was nice. Route down to spa is cool. The gym is tiny and there are no weights or resistance equipment and no natural light. Dinner in La Fougere was delicious. . Service was good. Breakfast was ok. Nice views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick from restaurant. Brehon bar is huge cavernous place. There is a drawing room the lounge in adjacent to reception but it is cool as wheelchair /buggy access is thru it. Overall place was fine. Seems like bit of a wedding factory and perhaps the rooms are suffering a bit and need a bit of TLC. Decor not my cup of tea. 15 min walk to the Octagon in Westport. BTW good recommendation for place to eat in town - the pantry and corkscrew. We ate lunch and dinner there and it was fab.. In fact it was highlight of our trip

I stayed here for two nights in September 2010 with a large group of about 20 friends (not a hen party though) and had the most wonderful time.

As soon as you walk through the doors, this hotel is a treat. The reception is cosy and welcoming, the staff were so accomadating and friendly, had everything ready for our arrival, check-in was so easy!! The receptionist was so helpful throughout our stay, organising a mini bus to bring us into town both nights we were there. When even the littlest of things are made hassle free, you know you're in a good spot!!

The rooms were big, very clean, and the room that i was in had a beatiful view of Crogh Patrick. the bathrooms were sparklingly clean also! Breakfast was included and what a breakfast it was!! The bar food was lovely too, I had an incredibly tasty steak sandwich, i highly recommend.

On the 2nd day, we did a spa day, and it was one of the most relaxing experiences I've had in a spa! If only westport wasnt 3 1/2 hour drive away!! Clean, relaxing, tranquil, well worth the money!!

I look forward to coming back to Knockranny again! It's a little outside of town, i'd say about a 15 minute walk, but the quality of the hotel, the grounds, and the view make the distance a very very small price to pay!

spent two nights here on 2nd and 3rd feb 2012, was given free upgrade to a deluxe room , it was a very comfortable and large room with plenty of tv chanells dvd player and cd player free btls water ,tea and coffee. staff very friendly and helpful, food menus in the hotel were very basic for choice but what was served up was excelent and of a very high standard, westport town is just a short walk away or a taxi will cost about E5.00

booked this hotel as a birthday treat for my girlfriend on a special January rate...2 nights B&B with 1 dinner and a spa treatment....excellent value. we upgraded to a deluxe room, can safely say it was the largest hotel room i have ever stayed in....indeed i have stayed in hotel rooms that were smaller than the bathroom. the staff, the service and the cleanliness of the hotel were top notch. the 2 small gripes i would have with the hotel were....we wanted to up grade our dinner from the Table D’Hôte to the gourmet tasting menu (the restaurant & chef have won many awards) but the charge for this was 100 euro which we felt was a bit expensive., we stuck with the Table D’Hôte menu which was fantastic, the second small issue was the tv reception which was poor in both our room and the bar and no sky sports, not a big issue for us as we didnt intend watching much tv but something that may be more of a concern for other people. overall absolutley recommend staying here

Room Tip: upgrade to a deluxe room

Spent bank holiday weekend in this hotel in Oct 2011 for my brother's wedding. The hotel did a great job. Check-in was warm and friendly as was the lobby area itself with an open log fire roaring away. The rooms can only be described as huge as are the bathrooms. The design of the property is however a little odd with the walk from reception to most of the rooms taking a good 5 mins and 2 lifts! We ate in the restaurant and were very pleased with the standard and quality of the food, the wine list and the service. Breakfast was also wonderful - again in terms of choice and quality. The only 'criticisms' I'd have relates to the price of the rooms - I found it odd to be charged per person as opposed to per room. While standards and quality were high I'm not sure the stay represented value for money. If I were to return to Westport I'd probably stay somewhere cheaper in the town itself. All that aside, we had a wonderful time.

Me and my husband to be stayed here last weekend on a deal offered on the website -2 nights b+b, 1 dinner, bottle of house wine and ONE 30 minute spa treatment. Eur145 per person-excellent value for what we got. We are getting married here next June so we were on the lookout for any faults!! Service etc was excellent and we were upgrade to a grand deluxe room. Food was of a very high quality and the cocktails in the bar were delicious although pricey- I recommend the "sloe Santa". Staff were friendly and the spa treatments are really relaxing. Had such a lovely weekend and it reassured us we made the right decision for a wedding venue!!

Two small points - there was a slightly musty smell in the corridor on the way to our room which was there all weekend. The room itself was fine - perhaps the heat needed to be on a bit more. Second point- the bar was very quiet but the hotel was quiet in general so I would imagine it gets busier in the summer.

Overall excellent stay and we look forward to returning again and again :) !!!
