“Fantastic Hotel. Beautiful food. Friendly staff. They cater for large groups”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We had two fantastic nights at this hotel in June 2014. There was a large group of 19 girls that travelled from all over Ireland to Westport, Co. Mayo for a hens party. From the initial booking to checking out, the staff were excellent. Since it was a large group the hotel offered their services to allow people to call up individually and pay a small deposit to hold their rooms. It was great to receive such support when arranging a weekend away for a group of 19. The reception staff worked out a tailored timetable for us that included B&B, evening meal, activity, free transfer to the Main Street and also nightclub entry. We arrived and had a yummy lunch in the bar. There was a cocktail making class arranged for the group. The cocktail making tutors were good fun and kept the activity light and entertaining for everyone. We then had a beautiful and moderately priced 3 course meal in the restaurant. I really enjoyed the black pudding and poached egg starter. Michael the manager could not do enough for us, nothing was a bother to him or his staff. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The Coast of Clew Bay is right on the front doorstep of the hotel and the views are breath taking. I enjoyed a nice walk to clear the head on Sunday morning! I am looking forward to returning to the Westport Coast hotel with either a group of girlfriends or my other half.

"Westport Coast Hotel" gives me the impression that the hotel is at the coast. This one is not. Right in front is a road with a lot of traffic and a car park at both sides of the road. So if you sit on the pavement in front of the hotel you smell car gas and hear cars all the time. No outdoor space available at all. We paid extra for see view rooms but it is a classical case of: if you push your nose at the window (another disadvantage: windows can be opened just 10 cms) you can get a glympse of the bay (and circa 5 kms further away the bay will end in the ocean).
WiFi was not working properly and complaining did not help (bandwith insufficient); each time residents returned around 17.00h you could no longer access WiFi as all tried to log on. I do not understand why management does not take the growing demand for full WiFi seriously.
I did not like breakfast: little healthy choice, cold toast, bad coffee and pretty mass made.
Even though the price of this hotel is mid range and one cannot expect heaven, I feel much more can be done to live up to price-quality expectations.
Positive point: on request I could get soya yoghurt at breakfast.

Room Tip: Room to room very noisy and isolation to street is zero; drunk people come out of the hotel bar at n...

We had two wonderful nights at this hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was a bother to them. We had a bay view room which was a little extra on the bill but worth every penny. The food was fabulous both in restaurant and bar. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, our only regret is having to leave after two nights, but we hope to be back next year. Westport is a very relaxing little town with such friendly people. Go on book a few nights you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: bay room for the view

Stayed here with two young children. The family suite is spacious with two tv's so no need to fight over what to watch. The kids loved the pool and the food and staff were brilliant. Would definitely recommend

The room was spacious and clean if a bit warm at night. The restaurant was excellent, the food well prepared and presented by really nice staff, would dine there anytime. Only negative was the view from the room onto the car park where some work was being undertaken which was a bit noisy at times.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the front with a view, avoid overlooking the car park

Stayed for two night in Westport Coast Hotel, Check-in staff were great as were all staff and food fantastic but was unable to sleep due to room being 26 degrees even though the weather wasn't that warm, I wouldn't like to see it in a heatwave. Hotel needs air conditioning, you would think a four star hotel would have it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is cool

24 of us stayed here in early July. I was the one who organised the trip and was trilled to hear everyone of the group heap praise on the hotel and on me for booking it. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is well laid out with a fabulous view, at the front there is a park and a lovely area for a walk by the sea where boats dock.. The food was second to none we had an evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Rooms were clean and spacious, on the weekend we stayed there was a variety of people booked in, hen/stag parties couples of all ages and people with young family's, all these appeared happy with the hotel and their surroundings. I was delighted with my pick and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Just let the staff know your preference they are very helpful. All rooms are of high quality.
