Stayed on a 'Travelzoo' offer. Checked in early and given vouchers for tea/coffee in the bar whilst waiting for the room to be ready. Excellent two-room suite in most respects except for the 'toiletries' - hoteliers please note - there are those of use who do not like shower gel but prefer soap - especially if only a minuscule amount of gel comes out with each push of the plunger - and, and this is the biggest complaint - the dispensers are bolted to the wall and cannot be reached when sitting in the bath!

I was a bit suspicious when the earliest dinner reservation available was 2030, with dinner finishing at 2130. Sure enough, we sat until 2050 till we were attended to, with most of the staff laying tables for tomorrow's breakfast. The food, when it came, was rather good. The black pudding starter was excellent, the sirloin of beef suffered from having been 'plated up' since about 1730 when dinner had started, with most of the 'natural juices' (thankfully not "jus"!) all but dried up, and the crumble was excellent.

When what appeared to be the restaurant manager asked us how our meal had been, we told her our 'complaints' and she kindly refunded the cost of the wine and gave us a drink in the bar afterwards. So our 'complaint' was dealt with most satisfactorily.

Apart from these minor 'niggles' (and no review of mine would be complete without a few of those!) overall a very good stay and I would recommend it.

Just back from hotel westport. We booked a weekend deal which included one evening meal. This was four courses and the choice was very good. Food was excellent as was breakfast. There was a plate of fruit and bottled water in the room which was very clean and comfortable. It is only a couple min walk along the river path to town. The staff were very friendly I would go back. Westport is a lovely town with lively pubs even off season.

We stayed in Hotel Westport on the June Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday night with our 2 children. We arrived at the hotel in the evening, wet and tired, having just completed the climb and descent of Croagh Patrick. We were tired and hungry. Noreen, very pleasantly and efficiently checked us in. We were delighted with our bedroom, plenty of space for all 4 of us. Our room had two full size single beds for the children and a very large double for us. They were very comfortable beds. We showered and changed immediately as we had a dinner reservation in the restaurant. The shower was easy to use and lovely and warm, which is just what we needed to warm us up. The towels from the heated towel rail were a bonus and a welcome one. On entering the restaurant for dinner, we were greeted very pleasantly and seated very promptly. Our waiter, unfortunately, I am not sure of his name (David?) was extremely efficient and very pleasant. Our dinner was absolutely delicious. The things that stood out for me were that clearly it was all very fresh produce, freshly cooked, not over seasoned. I was delighted. I don't generally eat dessert, but I did here and shared my husbands cheese board. All 4 of us, consumed everything. Enough said, empty plates going back to a kitchen is always a good sign. Another highlight of our dinner was the Petit Fours, we were expecting them, I haven't seen them in awhile and it was a lovely touch. Which reminds me, there was an amuse bouche also at the beginning, another lovely touch. The main thing I take away from me from this hotel is that everywhere I turned, I encountered positive experiences. The in-house newsletter was very informative and gave a good insight into the team (the entire staff, not just management) that runs Hotel Westport and it was quite evident when staying there, it is well run. Children are very well catered for, while my two (8 & 9 yrs) didn't use the kids club, there was great evidence around the hotel, that children are very welcome everywhere. We used the swimming pool the morning we were leaving and had great fun. This hotel is very conveniently located within Westport, we went out to dinner on the 2nd night and we able to leave our car at the hotel and walk into town with our two children for dinner and walk back afterwards. It was welcome fresh air after a large meal. I would certainly recommend a stay at the hotel for anyone considering it. They offer great value for money and are interested in their guests needs. They are looking to deliver if not exceed guest expectations. We were delighted we got to stay here. As it happened Noreen checked us out also, again in a very professional and pleasant manner. Thanks again for a lovely stay. We will be back we hope.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor are close to the leisure centre, this is handy for families.

Marvellous! I wouldn't expect such treatment every time but at the last minute we had to rush over to the west coast of Ireland and we were given upgraded rooms which were luxury! The service, efficiency and friendliness of the staff were all excellent! We'll be staying again soon!

Just back from Hotel Westport, Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the bar was not great. Breakfast was ok. Would be a good idea to have a few cereal spoons beside the cereal containers also small plates for bread beside the bread & scones just in case one went up without their plate from the table, baskets for bread was slow in been refilled. Few people asked for soft eggs but had to wait a while for them.Eggs on display were medium to hard.Service was slow but maybe because there was a large group staying there!!
