“Beautiful hotel but a little stuffy.”
Reviewed 15 August 2009

Hotel was beautiful, lovely rooms but all there were facilities for children, the children were not as welcome as in other hotels. A good hotel for couples.

We had a four nights, three dinner special travelling with two kids (5 and 2 yr old). The town is Westport is a really beautiful medium sized town and has lots to keep you busy for a short stay. The hotel is situated about 5 mins walk along the river from the town centre so very well positioned.

Positives:
- Staff were fantastic...recommend the Panda Club
- Room was well above what we expected, though we were in the newly refurbished rooms.
- The pool and gym were well kept and managed, esp good for an early morning dip before the place got busy.
- Did I say the staff make the place....I forgot my laptop cable and before I even managed to call them, they had forwarded it though to my home address....great service.
- Great for Kids

Drawbacks:
- Not overly impressed with the restaurant, though I think eating in the same place each night would have this affect on my at any hotel....think next time I would book it on B&B basis and explore the town a bit more for dinner (prob cost a lot more).

All in all a great mid week break and I would recommend to to anyone wanting a mid week break with kids....

The hotel is located a 5 minutes walk from the city center (I liked the foot path that starts in the back of the hotel, at the end of the parking lot and goes along the river shore).
The hotel offers free access to a large swimming pool. Everything is very clean. Spacious rooms with new furniture. Very good and hearty breakfast. Hospitable staff. The price in the height of the season was very competitive. A real gem!

We stayed here celebrating parents 30th wedding anniversary. The public toilet near the restaurant was appaling. The smell in the air was musty. We were booked for a 5 course meal for 33 euro. First course was a bread roll... Second second course was spring rolls which was like 3 children size portions and bacon salad once again children size portion. For third course we choose chicken, lamb dishes. Lamb was tough and small and the size of the chicken portion was something to laugh about. Vegetables included half of a potatoe, 2 corn sticks,1 slice of courgette, 2 tiny slices of carrot. Fourth course desert included a selection of ice creams which turned out to be 2 scoups on a biscuit and berry crumble. Fifth course was an after eight dinner mint, tea/coffee. It felt like we were handled with haste as if were were in a roadside cafe, courses were rushed as if they were racing to get you out of the restauran. The only good thing about the dining experience was the french wine waiter. Also it was sad to see only one Irish Waiter in the restaurant. Please note if you had choosen the Ala Caret menu this would have added an extra 20 euro to the bill totalling it to 53euro! In this current economic climate i think it is a disgrace of a charge.
We will not be recommending this hotel or returning to it again.

We stayed for a second time at Hotel Westport based on the excellent facilities and services we had experienced in 2008. Food in both restaurant and pub were excellent. Service was top-notch. We upgraded to a "premier" room for each stay and would recommend the nicer features. They offer many "packages" and we enjoyed the "Golden Package" on one stay and found it to be a great value. Hotel is in a quiet, pleasant location yet only a few minutes walk to the heart of Westport town. Very pleasant staff throughout.

We stayed here for 1 night. Got a good deal directly from the hotel website for 99 euros per room including breakfast.

We booked a double room however received a family room which was obviously bigger and better! Really comfortable bed and extremely clean room. The bathroom was immaculate also.

There was ample parking in the hotel car park and the hotel really is only a 5 minute walk to the town where there are plenty of restaurants and pubs!

The breakfast was really delicious and fresh - ths is probably due the the well mannered cook standing at the hot food at all times to make sure the food was always hot and fresh.

The only slight negatives were that our "neighbour" in the next room was either hard of hearing as the TV was sooooo loud or the walls are thin and the restaurant was expensive for dinner however, Wesport in itself is expensive to eat depending where you go!

All staff were helpful and well mannered which always adds to a good stay!!

ENJOY!!!

Having always wanting to go on a Murder Mystery Weekend - it was brilliant. We were unsure as to what to expect, but we were not disappointed. The Hotel was 5 minutes walk from the centre of Wesport, with all amenities. There were couples/groups of all ages attending from all over the country. The characters were like d'Unbelievables. My fiance was chosen as the priest for the mystery as he was wearing a black shirt. It was all absolutely hilarious, lots of good banter and audience participation (promted or unprompted!) I found out that I was marrying a thespian!:) Saturday we did our own thing - Croagh Patrick and touring around Westport. On Saturday night, 40% of guests dressed in fancy dress, as it was optional. This all added to the hilarity and fun. The food was very nice as it was a total package. Breakfast service could have been better. Our room was standard but comfortable. Overall, it was more a 3 star hotel with a pool. Saying that, we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and to top it all my fiance won the Murder Mystery so his parents are due to visit Hotel Westport soon!
