“Brilliant Experience!!”

Bellacragher Bay Boat Club
More attraction details
Attraction details
Owner description: Most watersports in one place, Sailing, Kayaks, powerboating, skiing. We are a small sailing Club that welcomes visitors during the sailing season, people that come to us can learn to sail/improve their skill or take a cruise along our very scenic coast. Island hopping camping trips in addition to the annual Summer Camp make a very busy Summer, we have a range of sailing Dinghies but lean towards catamarans.

As soon as we arrived at Bellacragher Boat Club we were made feel very welcome. Everybody is highly skilled and experienced and they put any worries we had at ease straight away. It is a thoroughly enjoyable experience that anybody would enjoy. The catamaran is great fun especially when it is travelling at speed! The views around the area are fantastic. I would recommend this to everybody, will definitely be back next year!!

I accidentally came across this attraction when i visited Mullranny and Claggan and i decided to give it a go with my young son, I have never sailed before and I though this was an opportunity and i got great encouragement to give it a go. It was very reasonable priced and everything was included . I ended up doing it for four days and i don't think it could happen like that anywhere else. It was a fantastic adventure the best holiday i ever had the people both young and older were extremely friendly and personally I learned a huge amount about sailing . I felt very safe at all times especially as Seamus and Brain would keep us all in view from their motor boats . What was unique was the atmosphere in the rugged tranquility of a small section of the Wild Atlantic and at that time we were given all the necessary instructions attire for sailing . My children have all done the sailing in Bellacragher since and they made great friends with many memories.

As a single parent I brought my two kids aged 4 and 8 and few cousins ages 3 4 and 6 down practically every Sunday during the summer. With absolutely no experience of sailing we managed to get the little ones in a boat and because the bay is sheltered once they got familiar with their surroundings it was the equivalent of swimming in a giant swimming pool. The area round the pier never got too deep so this helped the ones that were unsure or scared of water a real chance to get comfortable and confident in water, They could float about there with the wet suits and life jackets on for hours on end. It really is a great introduction to the water for beginners while the more experienced can get to see the real action further out the bay on the catamarans and power boats etc. Don't knock it until you've tried it out for yourself. Looking forward to summer 2014 no matter what the weather on the water ;) See you there

Always have a great time when sailing with the club, great atmosphere amongst all involved, it is nice to see young and old taking up the skill, even if you just want to watch you can sit on the pier and enjoy the heat from the bbq and the beautifull surroundings, if that doesnt suit maybe you can try out the water skii's or some powerboating! The bay is a perfect place to start off sailing, suits everyone from beginners to professionals the club is definitely one of the best organised and friendly!! Lovely way to spend a day in good compan!y! Highly recommended, also amazing amount of girls and women out sailing too, suits everyone and anyone. Itching to get back on the water soon! Such a great skill and activity!

We come back to Achill every year for our summer holidays. The location is ideal for all kinds of water sports. We heard of Bellacragher Boat Club 2 years ago by chance and our only regrets are not knowing about this club years ago. The club is very family friendly and is fostering a passion for sailing especially amongst the younger sailors. The sailing and coaching is run from a sheltered bay close to the Geenway.
At last our tourist board is starting to recognise the potential that water sports can achieve on our West Coast with the introduction of the Atlantic Way. A big thanks to Brian and to Seamus for the welcome and the encouragement to develop an interest in sailing.
We are looking forward to returning this year.
