My wife and I have just returned from the three night stay in the Westport Plaza Hotel and this is a property that we gladly recommend to anyone seeking excellent value for money combined with quality customer service and amenities. We booked the Gold Experience with 3 nights b&b and 2 evening dinners in the hotel restaurant Merlot. In addition the Gold Experience gave both of us 1 hour in the Thermal Suite at the Sula Spa and a 30 euro voucher for use at other facilities in the hotel.

We arrived on Sunday just in the middle of the TV coverage of the Mayo v Kerry football match but this did not stop us getting a quick check in which allowed us to get to the main bar to join in the many Mayo supporters cheering on their team. When the game was over we went back to our room which was spacious and whilst the furniture could be a little more modern there was ample storage and plenty of room to move about. The ensuite bathrooom which had seperate shower and jacuzzi bath was well appointed. Perhaps given the size of the room the TV was on the small size but this is a small issue which in no way marred our stay. The bed was enormous, comfortable and ensured three nights sound and relaxing sleep.

The only issue with the room was the lack of heat coming from the air-conditioning but thanks to Mary at reception this was quickly sorted out and ensured a comfortable stay given the weather conditions outside.

Breakfast was excellent, well presented and hot - a word of warning - when staff say to mind the plates as they are hot, heed their advice - plates are hot which ensures the hot food stays hot. Our two dinners in the Merlot restaurant were of a very high standard and whilst it was disappointing not to have a chicken choice as a main course on the second night the hake that my wife then chose was absolutely delicious. On the third night we decided to avail of the 30 euro voucher and dined in the Patio bar which obviously well used by local people and once more we both had excellent meals, indeed given the starter and main course portions we decided to forgo desserts due to lack of room within what were full tummies. Just a word of caution, I ordered as a starter mussels but wasn't prepared for a huge bowl being delivered - really great food but a very large starter.

The hotel only has entertainment on Saturday night but the bar in the sister hotel Castlecourt which is just across the shared courtyard had singing and dancing on all the three nights we stayed. On all nights the bar was full which is a good sign in terms of value for money and a well run establishment.

As usual with the hotels I visit the gym is an important part of my stay and this is situated in the Castlecourt complex along with a very well used and substantial swimming pool. The gym continued to live up to the hotel standard with plenty of equipment which was in working order and would allow for a good workout to be had, well done.

The Thermal Suite contained the usual mix of sauna, steam room, foot spas and showers from different parts of the world. We were lucky in that the rain stopped which allowed us to use the outdoor hot jacuzzi pool, really relaxing and at over 30 degrees centigrade soothing to the bones. However can't understand why this excellent hotel could not erect a cover for this facility as I couldn't see many using the pool if the weather was inclement.

All in all a very relaxing stay, great staff, great rooms and delicious food. Go to this hotel, you will not be disappointed

We recently held our wedding in the Plaza Hotel, Westport. From the start the manager was excellent and thorough with the planning. He gave us his time and advice throughout the organisation of the big day. On the days leading up to the wedding we knew we were in good hands. I checked into the hotel the night prior to the wedding. I was given the presidential suit which was amazing! Wine, chocolates, cookies! On the day of the wedding the staff as always were kind, friendly and thoughtful. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The reception itself had excellent service, the food was wonderful, hot, cooked to order and prompt - many people commented on how amazing the menu was, and the kids menu fantastic also. During our time in the Plaza I cannot find any fault. I would recommend this hotel to anyone whether it be for bar food, an evening meal, a weekend away, spa treatment, hair dresser or function. The entire time we were involved with the hotel, the staff there made it easy and took the stress away. I frequent it all the time, with great memories. They really made our day feel very special, and accommodated our every wish.

Room Tip: Any room would be wonderful. The beds are incredibly comfortable.

Lovely, modern hotel in a good location. Really enjoyed our stay here, staff were v helpful. Had lunch in the bar one of the days, which was nice, and a beautiful meal in the hotel restaurant, Merlot. Would definitely stay here again.

The qualities of this property are excellent. The design of the common areas and the bedrooms is a credit to the owners vision. The art work, the furnishings, light fittings etc. are a pleasure to behold. My wife and I had stayed previously here and in it's sister hotel Castlecourt. On this occasion we felt that the experience was somewhat disappointing. We had booked 4 rooms and I paid the account for all on arrival. The receptionist made a point of noting the various room numbers. However, reception later that same day accepted payment from one of our party for their room. When this was pointed out to management on Saturday night the error was rectified. Our room was very comfortable. However, we were disappointed with the delay on the part of housekeeping in tidying the room on Saturday morning. Our daughter suffered the same fate. Both rooms had the service message left out for 3-4 hours to no avail between 10 & 2. On inquiring it appears that there was a shortage of staff. The breakfast service on both mornings was good. Our previous experiences were more positive and hopefully the problems we encountered were one off misfortunes and not routine.

I'm just back from Westport and stayed in the Westport Plaza for 3 nights and had a wonderful time mostly due to the hotel and it's location, the rooms are of high standard and the food in the restaurant and bar is exceptional and finally the staff were friendly and very helpful in making my stay there a great experience, this was my 3rd time to stay there and it seem's to get better each time and I'm already looking forward to staying there again. I highly recommend staying at The Westport Plaza.

Room Tip: Request a room looking over the courtyard or with a balcony garden view.

Very well located, clean, modern hotel. Good food, fab spa, the outdoor hot tub on a rainy day is a must, only topped by professional, friendly and helpful staff. I've stayed a number of times and will happily return.

Enjoyed stay with Westport \Plaza once again. Room large with settee and table. Free internet. spotlessly clean and a very tasty breakfast without any queuing or delays. This is our favourite stop over in Co. Mayo, and so convenient to the town centre.
