Great spacious rooms and decor to a very high standard unlike other B&B's we stayed in during our trip. A very warm welcome on arrival and were very attentive to all our needs. Breakfast menu to not disappoint. Amazing selection and our food choices were delicious. Home cooking was brilliant. Great B&B and would recommend it to friends and family.

Having stayed at this so called 4* b&b it has to be the worst ever. We were unable to find our "hosts" as needed to clean the toilet & shower. Carpet filthy & not vacuumed for weeks as crumbs everywhere. Even the UHT milk was off & thought that was impossible. Bathroom was so small you had to come out into the room to towel off, sat on toilet & sink in your face. Look to the side of the main stairs & see the filth. Luckily we were first for breakfast so played hunt the clean & unchipped or cracked cups. All linens were falling apart & not too clean both in the breakfast room & bedroom. No smoke detectors in the rooms either & the window would only open 2" After contacting our tour company they inspected themselves and pulled out immediately. Stay away. Disgusting.

My wife and I stayed here in September, it was in a nice peaceful location but not too far away from Westport Quay where some nice restaurants were. Our hosts Frances and Angela were extremely nice and Frances was very helpful recommending day trips and places to eat. Whilst you were down at breakfast your room was made up and the towels changed on a daily basis. You chose your breakfast the day before and this could be changed by 8.00 pm in the evening. Our room looked out of the front of the guest house and had splendid views over the islands and onto the mountain, unfortunately it did rain for practically all of our visit, but none the less worthy of a visit.

Just after reading a couple of reviews here and almost word for word I would agree with most of them. This B&B is not a B&B in the traditional sense; it is more like a military barracks run to strict military style timing. I would feel more comfortable at funeral parlour. Myself and my friend stayed in Carrabaun House last weekend. Unlike stated on the net this place is far distance from Westport town on a road that looks very very dangerous and totally unsuitable for walking.

When we arrived we were greeted like a Fawlty Towers style welcome, where we were made feel like we should be glad that we were staying in this place and that They were putting them selves out of their way to accommodate us. The day of the friendly old style warm welcome is well and truly dead in this B&B and if you want a cold and totally military style welcome, then this place is the place to stay.

Worst of this entire place should not be called a B&B as you are very very unlikely to get a breakfast. We were quiet rudely awoken from our sleep, with loud banging on our door to get us up for breakfast. When we got up we were told that we had missed breakfast and meet by a very rude woman to tell us that we would not be getting any breakfast at all, again made to feel that we had put these people out our their way. This was at 8.50am on a Sunday morning.

I don’t know why this place is a Bed without Breakfast as you are not made welcome and by what I saw the only reason why it is there is to make money and treat there guests with contempt. This place is without doubt the worst I have stayed in and totally avoidable with a 10ft pole.

Myself and my partner stayed in Carrabaun House over the bank holiday weekend. I booked it as it is advertised as 1km from Westport. This should be titled 1km from Westport town boundary, (thereby about 2.5km from town centre) on a road totally unsuitable for walking.
Our directions from the net, decribed how a warm welcome awaited us. However we were greeted by a sullen girl who left me outside in the rain while she checked our reservation. No help was offered with our bags as we lugged them up a steap staircase. We were then instructed that breakfast was between 7.30am and 8.45 (far too early a cut off) and that she would be back to take our order in 10mins.

Breakfast was fine, but in a silent awkward dining room where we had to share a table with another couple without an apology.

The showers were freezing on our first morning.

The hosts were unavailable throughout stay to offer advice on taxis etc, and as we hadn't been approched on our 2nd day to order breakfast for the following morning, we decided to skip it. We were awoken at half 8 to an abrupt knock to get up. Afraid to do otherwise we went downstairs where we were presented with the same breakfast order as previous morning.
To put icing on the cake, we received a knock to our room at 9.58am to tell us to vacate by 10am.
I left this property annoyed, and would never go back. The family appear to be more interested in running a military style B and B, with very little interest in anything other fullfilling the minimum requirements and getting you out.

They are very particular about breakfast here and require a firm order to be placed the night before. On oour second morning they and were knocking insistently on a neighboring guest's door when they did not appear for their appointed breakfast time, calling "Breakfast", knock knock knock, "Breakfast". When the two tardy guests did arrive, they were given the hot part of their breakfast while they were still spooning up their first bite of cereal. This was an obvious message as they were not particulalry full. Also, Most of the B&Bs we stayed at had some sort of music in the background at breakfast, so I would suggest that for them. I do not mean to be critical - as this is a very nice place to stay and We were fortunate to enjoy two sunsets with a beatiful view of Crogh Patrich and Claire Island. If you are looking for a place to eat go PAST the harbor and look for "Sheebens" on th left standing by itself. Order the pot roasted lamb shoulder.
