“Steam Shower?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2012

Stayed here St Patrick’s weekend 2012 for three nights. Very friendly welcome from Bernie. However, although it was large, I felt the room was very substandard, old fashioned bed linen and frayed old towels. From the website, I was lead to believe that rooms were equipped with steam showers. Morning or evening, we never had hot water. The breakfast was average, nothing to write home about. The walls were thin and I could hear the breakfast being prepared each morning. Just a few small changes, nice towels, turning on the immersion and updating the bed linen would make a massive difference to this house which has so much potential otherwise.

Pat here the owner of Boffin Lodge. We welcome all reviews of our property and generally respond to those that are somewhat critical. To deal with the issues at hand. I have re-examined our Web Site and agree that one can get the impression that there are steam showers in all rooms when in fact there is only one room with such a facility. We will ammend the Web site accordingly. Re the water issue. We have our immersion on 24hrs a day. What is on a timer is the curculation pump which gives instant hot water to every tap in the Lodge at peak times - circa breakfast time and in the evening until 9pm Outside of those hours hot water is availble but one must run the tap to get it. We runwhat we feel is a 'green' establishment in Boffin Lodge and we recycle everything plus we keep all waste, be that energy or food, to a minimum. If at any stage you had made us aware of any problems we would have adjusted our timer to meet your needs. Re the White Linen with Foxford blankets. This is a deliberate choice by us which goes down well with the majority of our customers. We keep an openmind with it however and if this changes we will also. Most people like the increased hygene associated with not using duvets. One also gets as a bonus with greater flexibility with the 'weight' of bed covering by offering additional blankets at hand in every wardrobe. This helps when one is catering for Winter & Summer guests. If you got frayed towels this is unacceptable and I have initiated a review of these immediately. Re the breakfasts: We consider our breakfasts to be one of our unique selling points and put great effort in this area which we think yields good reviews - if one is to look back on Trip Advisor one certainly gets this view. We noted at the time of your visit that very few ordered breakfasts were eaten by you and this did not go unnoticed by us.
We note, and are grateful for, the positive tone of your review and hope that you will stay with us again.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend and the place was perfect. The room was clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and a bottle of champagne (organised by my husband) was left in the room for us on arrival. No hassles at all.
Location wise its walking distance to town but also close to the quay and westport house.
Couldn't be better

Excellent B&B. We stayed in the 4 poster room which is a lovely room with great facilities. Breakfast is plentiful and there is a wide choice. We have stayed many times and tried a range of different options - all have been excellent. Bernie and Mary are very friendly and helpful hosts. WiFi availability is an extra bonus.

Room Tip: Our preferred room is the 4 poster room. It is very comfortable and has an open fire for cosy eveni...

Stayed here for four nights, found the place very comfortable and well-kept. Bernie, the main person on duty during our stay was a real treasure and her humour and welcome definitely added to the quality of the stay.
