We honeymooned at this exquisite hotel. We were made to feel soo special . Our room was beautiful and the meals were exceptional.Monaghan s surrounding country side has a huge amount to offer so do explore the friendly helpful will be glad to guide you. They have massive hand blown glass chilies hanging from the ceiling in the dining room where we marvelled at their beauty as we quafed penfolds koonanga hill red wine . What a total treat you ll love it . Enjoy.

I called to book the Avenue restaurant for mothers day for 8 people. The receptionist informed me it was closed and they were taking bookings in a restaurant in the main hotel ,i then asked about location of the restaurant as my mum recently broke her leg and was in a wheel chair and my husband is on crutches. She assured me it was on ground floor, I then asked about menu and also if it was a carvery as we did not want a carvery for practicle reasons of having to que and carry each others plates also ,It was a special occasion and we all choose the Avenue as we had been there previously for mothers days and knew the food was excellant and service fantastic.
So when we arrived we were very dissapointed. The restaurant was a wedding venue room it was very bright it also had a dance floor in middle and no ambiance at all.I then saw along carvery table !!!!!!!!
I spoke to the staff and told them i specifically didnt book a carvery and u must be mistaken as my reservation was for a restaurant. The staff wasnt rude but neither helpful.A lady informed me the menu changed after my booking.
The Starter was served to the table and most of us had the vegatable soup which was watery with a few piecies of carrot floating about in it,it really was not great .Main course was carvery and just ok vegatables were a little cold on the plus side a lovely waiter helped my mum with her food (dark haired gent about 40-50 yrs we recognised him from working previously in the Avenue Restaurant) .it was just dissapointing really.
After dinner we had a few drinks in the bar which was also serving carvery which looked great and a fraction of the price we had just paid, the bar had a great atmosphere and was very cosy.We asked the barman why the Avenue restaurant was closed ?he told us it wasnt and that it was just closed for that day .
Im not sure if we will visit this hotel again or The Avenue restaurant as i felt they were trying to maximise there profits on that day and were economical with the truth when taking my booking.Truely disapointing

Quite a nice little Hotel, not the most functional one, but does the job. It was very quiet and the breakfast was excellent to my taste. The Wi-Fi wasn't working during the stay and the rooms didn't have a minibar, which gives a small minus. Also the trip from the reception to the room felt like a marathon.
The surroundings are quite nice and most likely this hotel is very attractable for those who have time to enjoy those.

my wife and i decided to have a short break and the four seasons seemed to be a good choice going on the internet. on arrival the receptionist was polite however offered little by the way of information in regards to entertainment or the health spa or times of meals etc which was a little disappointing. the room, 219 was at the end of a long corridor and felt out of the way. the decor was very dated and had seen better days the bed was a small double and was lost in the size of the room. the curtain pole had spiders webs on it and to top things off our rooms heating did not work and it was freezing. my wife brought this to the attention of staff twice before anything was done. we were provided with two heaters for the room at 2230 at night....not good enough. however the lady nuala who gave us the heaters was apologetic and very helpful. the room and bathroom was basic. the shower was fantastic. the food in this hotel is top notch. delicious. no complaints what soever. the meal in the evening was great value for money and the service was great. i did not get the waitress name but she was very helpful and had great attention to her tables. the breakfast too was lovely and again no complaints at all. we were in the bar area for a while and were served by nuala and again she was lovely but she seemed to be doing so many different jobs. we waited for twenty minutes before being served or even acknowleged at the bar when she left with other staff talking to each other and not really paying attention.the over riding question is would i stay again? maybe... but the fact when we checked out none of this was acknowledged at all by reception may sway me to stay away from here and teavel a little further to the hillgrove. unfortunately well below what i expected.

Stayed here the night of a wedding (not part of the wedding guests) & placed in a room right above the reception room - obvious to say noise went on to all hours so not a great nights sleep had! Breakfast was ok. Staff were friendly although i would have thought the receptionist who checked us in could have placed us more appropriately. Poor experience for this reason - im sure its a fine hotel in other circumstances.

stayed in hote sat 18th feb. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bar service was poor and food over priced.Burger and chips @ 13 euro and fish and chips 15 euro. Had predinner drinks organised and were not ready when arrived for dinnner. had to wait 20 mins for them and no staff came to the table to take order for food had to go and look for someone to take it. Breakfast was ok. Not to sure if we would return to hotel with so many other hotels offering better service and quality for money
