I booked the whole building for my sister's hen party and we couldn't have had a better time. The apartments are comfortable and spotlessly clean; the location is stunning; the locals are warm and welcoming and the owners couldn't be more helpful. I'll definitely be back for a few days during the summer months.

A Big thanks to Gerry and Maria for their warm and friendly welcome. (Nice to be home again)

The apparts were brillant stayed there for 4 nights with family and friends from France.

i would recommend the appartments to anyone with or even without a family very homely very. I have four children and really it was great. Clean tidy, tea coffee sugar at disposal on arrival, towels extra bedding if needed really can't complain about anything. Everything was perfect.

I have recommended Ballycommon to friends who will be staying there in two weeks and really even though they don't speak very good english I have no worries that they will be looked after very well.

A big thanks to Ballycommon for everything.

Room Tip: I would suggest the down stairs rooms to anyone with children. Gerry and Maria also prefer for safety reasons. 4 Appartements all the appartments are the same but the view onto the canal through the large window in the sitting/dining area in appartement 1 it just lovely....

Short version - Super clean, totally updated. Great kitchen appliances, great heat, great water pressure, great on-site management. If you are looking for a quiet location in the Midlands of Ireland this is the place for you. Perfect for a family of four. Square footage is not excessive but space is used efficiently.

Details - We spent one week in Ireland in February with a concentrated focus on Tullamore and the rest of County Offaly. Ballycommon House fit the bill for us perfectly. The price was very reasonable. We made easy day trips to Mullingar, Dublin (we took the train from nearby Portarlington), Moneygall, Clonmacnois, and the Slieve Bloom mountains. All were readily accessible. The location on the banks of the Grand Canal adds in some nice scenery and history. My kids enjoyed playing with the dog and feeding the ducks. There was also a Gaelic Footbal match across the street on the first day we arrived. The pub is very quaint a great place to end the day. The proprietors are as nice as you could possibly hope for. You will want to have a rental car unless you are in search of total peace and quiet. Ballycommon is a very rural spot but very close to the vibrant town of Tullamore (about 15 minutes drive). The bedrooms are small, closet space is limited. Perfect for an active family of four. Manageable for two couples. Sufficient for a family of five on a budget (our youngest slept on a comfy fold down couch). They also had the option of a rollaway. Four similar units in all, ideal for a group travelling together.

For Irish Whiskey lovers - two significant brands, Kilbeggan and Tullamore Dew have expansive tours and tasting rooms within a half hour drive.

Room Tip: First floor unit on right has large picture window overlooking the Grand Canal.

Stayed in ballycommon house for 3 nights in march. The apartment was perfect. Clean, modern, well maintained and layed out with modern furniture. The apt's contain two rooms with either 2 double beds or 4 singles(aswell as a pull out sofa which 2 people can sleep comfortably), which can be confirmed if available with Gerry or Marie. Fridge, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, sandwich maker and more than enough mugs and glasses.
it is located right beside the canal with beautiful scenery all around you and is popular with locals for walking.
The pub is located right next door and contains a pool room with pool table, slot machine and juke box. Gerry and Marie could not be nicer and really made the effort to make you feel welcome.
The apartments are located about a 10 minute drive from the town of Tullamore. A taxi will cost between 16-20 euro and every taxi man knows the direction.
To sum up,good location, great accomadation, great value and unbelieveable hospitality.
Cant ask for better deal when it comes to self catering requirements.
