“Pleasant stay”
Reviewed 5 July 2012

Have visited many times and find Staff , acomodation and food excellent. However from a recent experience I would recommend anyone staying to request a room not over-looking the street which is very noisy, particularly the mind-less idiots driving past the Hotel with suped-up engines until the early morning. Surely there is some method of preventing these idiots from disturbing the peace late at night.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and hopefully we will have the pleasure in welcoming you back to The Bridge House Hotel in the near future.

We have had on going issues with street noise, hopefully we have sorted the problem now. We with the help of the local Gardai have put procedures in place to eleviate any speeding in the near by car-park.

Kind regards,
Geraldine Leech,
Rooms Divsion Manager.

Stayed in Tullamore for two days after arriving on Ferry in Dublin and heading to West coast. Excellent friendly receptionist who appeared genuinely interested in how we were and if she could help.
Rooms were good size, though we were at the front overlooking the terrace and it was very noisy in the early hours, but the downside probably of being in the centre of town.
Italian restaurant food on the first floor was excellent and nice touch with the terrace being open for the summer evenings. The breakfast staff in the main restaurant were much less accommdating than our arrival reception - polite but no more. Plates were extraordinarily boiling so the breakfast continued cooking after it arrived and there was a rather odd layout for the toast and cereals - everyone bunching up together to try and access the table.
We found the bar eating area was very busy and had a very rushed and unappealing feel to it. There was a general feeling that it was trying to appeal to too many different customers- families, conferences, those wanting a pub meal, couples etc and not quite hitting the mark with any.
That said, a very comfortable hotel, and nice and central for touring the local area. As a short stay would recommend, but not for more than a couple of days.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the front of the hotel unless you are immune to revellers at 2, 3 and 4 in the morning!

We booked in for two nights and were very impressed with the first class, friendly service.
We ate in the restaurant the first night, Pork belly delicious, equally was the duck. I was a bit quirky with choice of desert and staff were delighted to oblige. We were both very impressed with the level of service again the following night. Receptionist were very friendly and helpful. The hotel car park is the only drawback. But not enough to spoil our stay and we made another reservation for September.

The bridge house hotel is a very good hotel in Tullamore in the centre of Ireland, a good base from which to get to places like Galway. Excellent service from very friendly staff, however the best feature is the food. My collegue and I ate in the restaurant and the food was absolutely superb, excellently presented and cooked to perfection. If you are ever passing Tullamore make your way here.

My husband and I have been on holidays in ireland for the past 2 weeks and have stayed at various hotels and guest house. We have tryed to aviod staying at "Big Brand" hotels and stay local and Irish. However in the 12 days that we have been here and the all the experiences we have had, this hotel has to have been the worst!

The parking for the hotel is around the block and across the street which is madness when there is a huge carpark outside the door which is also a shopping center, I cant understand why guests of the hotel cant park in this carpark. Even though the pictures of this hotel make you think it is in a grand location, it is far from this. All the views were over the building and the car park, like totally awful!

The lobby of the hotel is nice, with a lovely grand staircase. Its a pity they hadnt much as much effort into the bedrooms. We were staying on the second floor in a room that must nit have been painted or upgraded in years and years! I mean they still had a box TV on the table and the most dated bathroom and awful shower. And as for the little extra touches of soaps and accesories, there was none, not good enbough for a supposed 4* hotel. We asked to be moved rooms and explained why but we just got another room of the same age, I mean, why move us if thats all you have and we felt like we were an inconvienence for the girl at the desk. We dined on there lobby restaurant for afternoon lunch. Food was good but the service was again awful. We had a young girl serving us who seemed more interested in texting on her phone than looking after us. We had dinner in the hotels main restaurant which is down this long corridor and into this big bar at the front (restaurant at the back of the big bar). Food again was lovely, John had the steak and it was a good "irish" style steak and i had the chicken and it was very tastey. But again and again, this hotel is let down by the service! The restaurant was nice, except for the noise from the bar, it was bright and well laid out but we again commented on why all the public areas of this hotel are so nice and the bedrooms so bad, guests need nice rooms to sleep in too!

Overall, very dissapointing experience of an Irish Hotel! In Summary; Food very tastey and hot. Public areas lovely, bedrooms awful and the service is the worst!

Do not stay here and i hope the management of this hotel will do some customer training with their staff. As an American tourist, this was not a good reflection on Irish hotels!

Room Tip: Ask have they done up any rooms. The one we stayed in on the second floor was bad.

The restaurant at the Bridge House is very popular with the locals. They serve one of the most popular lunches in the midlands. The food is piping hot and there is plenty of room to sit down. The popularity of the lunch speaks for itself. Will certainly go back.
