“Genuine hospitality is hard to beat”
Reviewed 20 March 2013 via mobile

good hotels are good hotels; the right people giving that little bit of extra care and attention to their customers, are what makes a good hotel, a great hotel. Sligo park has, in my opinion, an exceptional bunch of people working there.. Service is excellent, rooms are crispy clean and the bathrooms are finished to an extremely high standard. Wifi could be a little bit stronger but it hardly mattered. Overall we were taken care of in way that is rarely found in the hospitality sector these days. 5 stars from me.!!!!

The good stuff - great price, really nice staff, good sized room, nice shower and a nice breakfast. It is not fancy but it is functional. A good base to explore Sligo and surrounds (it is about 2km out of town) but not somewhere to go if you are looking for a luxurious romantic get away.

It is an old hotel (70's or '80's I'd guess) that has been renovated and it does feel a little tired in parts. Although a 4 star, it felt more like a 3 star.

I would visit again but only if I got another excellent deal.

Just back from a stay at this hotel. It was good value for the money we paid for our 3 nights. The hotel is clean and tidy. The food was very good and reasonably priced but the bar menu is limited. There was music each night over the weekend. The breakfast was top class with a great choice for everyone. A great base for touring Sligo but a good 25 minute walk into town. The leisure centre is very good but I was disappointed that it opens at 7am all week but does not open until 8.30 at weekends leaving it very tight to go for an hour in the morning have a shower and still make breakfast for 10 but that's only me I like to work out early . All said a good hotel and would go back again

The Sligo Park is showing its age. However, on the weekend we stayed (on a remarkable pigsback package), it was full up with a happy relaxed mix of people - mostly in the over 50 age bracket. There were some problems, I won't deny, but the staff were extremely willing and helpful. The staff are almost all Irish with a very definite western welcoming attitude. Nothing was too much trouble and always done with a smile. Our room was dated but comfortable and equipped with everything you would expect in a hotel room. I used the pool and had no complaints whatsoever. Perfect temperature both in and out of the water - and it was freezing. Breakfast, included in the package, was just OK - nothing to get excited about, but satisfactory.

I get the impression that the hotel is just breaking even, with not a lot to spare for refurbishment. However, it is obviously very popular. The friendliness, efficiency and helpfulness of the staff makes up for any other limitations.

If you are looking for a standard 4 star hotel, it ticks all the boxes, but lacks those little somethings. We stayed in room 226, standard hotel room, no room safe or fridge though, nice views of the garden through the floor to ceiling window, but noise from the corridor travels in very easily. Breakfast was standard, no frills, but food in the restaurant at night was good, better than I had expected. Overall staff friendly. Communal areas appeared to be getting more of a clean than normal on the day we left as the St. Patrick's weekend was approaching.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the garden, in the newer part of the hotel and well away from the lift / s...

We were at the Sligo Park Hotel for a wedding, I think there were maybe 110 guests at the reception. The staff did a terrific job, from the moment we checked in, through the reception and to check out. They were helpful and friendly, and the food at the reception was very good. In all, a very positive experience.

I recently organised a Bridge Weekend for over 50 people at this hotel. We were collected from the railway station and on arrival at the hotel, there was tea/coffee and scones waiting for us. The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and all our meals were first class. In a group of this size there are normally some complaints but in this case I am happy to say there were none. This is an ideal base for exploring Sligo. All in all we were more than happy with our weekend in Sligo Park Hotel and am sure we will return. Well done to Bernadette, Margaret, Lisa, Helen, Rachel and all the staff who helped make the weekend the success it was. Joyce

Room Tip: All rooms are similar and a good size. In our experience, noise wasn't a problem.
