“Rooms dated, food inedible.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

After spending just one night in this hotel I can confirm I will never be back. I would question it's 4 star rating as I stayed here just after staying in the redcastle hotel in Donegal, which is also 4 star, and they are worlds apart.

Dinner which was included in our package was greasy and the meat was very tough. I heard another diner asking for some tinfoil so he could bring his 26 Euro steak home for his dog because that's all it was fit for.

The poor food was only accentuated by equally poor service which got even worse for breakfast the next morning, where 3 waitresses were on duty for a very small crowd in what is a small restaurant and still we had to call one over so we could get our hot drinks and many tables were not set yet.

The rooms were very dated although it was like a trip down memory land to see a tube tv in a hotel room.

Location isn't exactly great either, Sligo town is at least half an hours walk.

Honestly the thing I'm looking forward to most about this hotel is checking out

Very nice hotel indeed. Staff were most friendly and accomodating. Rooms were super, bed was very comfortable and the view of Ben Bulben mountain was great. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Plenty of parking.

Positives. Nice staff in bar great tasty food, convenient location to town and hospitals.
Negatives, given old stle room, long long corridors rooms in a maze of corridors, very noisy doors on rooms banging, heating comes on half six like a high pitch whistling, no complimentary drinking water.tea station in room in wardrobe!
Shops in main centre are like a maze. St josephs hospital is fantastic great staff very comfortable.

Went to Sligo for a wedding at Castle Dargin. Stayed in the Sligo Park. Check in was brisk and no problems. Room was also lovely and in a quiet area with no noise at night. No card for the room door. Still using the old fashioned key. Dident eat here so no comment on the food. Had a late night drink in the bar which was nice and good atmosphere. Only gripe i had about this hotel was the gir at reception. I noticed on the internet the the price had fallen before our arrival. I rang reception to see if they would reduce the cost to the current cost on the internet and she just said to me would i be half as quick to ring up if the price had gone up !! I was stunned to hear her talking like this and her attitude. She said the price i booked it for was the price and that was it. I told her i stayed in some other hotels and found the cost had gone down and when i rang up i had no problem whatsoever. She said good for them !! This attitude from the reception staff has put me off staying in the sligo park again. Next time we visit sligo My wife and i will be staying elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the Tennis court. - Very quiet at night.

Stayed at the Sligo Park Hotel during August Bank Holiday. The hotel was a pleasant welcome having just stayed at the Yeats Country Hotel. Represented good value for money with the exception of the bar food. It was disappointing and over priced. The bar itself was not big enough for the size of the hotel. All the staff were very friendly. The spa facilities were spot on and most enjoyable. Good sized rooms - clean - with good facilities. The couches in the reception lounge area were most likely picked by an interior designer who had probably not sat on one for any length of time - Look good but not comfortable for back problems or more senior guests.

Brakfast at the hotel was excellent but disappointing having to sit opposite a family with two young children who ate like animals and had no table manners. Parents take note!

Room Tip: Having seen a number of rooms at the hotel they would all appear to be very good and well maitained...

Staying just 1 night in the sligo area, this hotel was recommended. The room was comfortable, clean and staff were very welcoming. An ideal place to visit for a weekend as they have a lovely bar and restaurant along with a pool, great value hotel.
