“Modern hotel with good facilities”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

Very modern hotel with a lovely pool and jacuzzi. We ate in the bar and the food was excellent. Very comfortable room. Breakfast was lovely cooked to order. Plenty of car parking spaces - the room was a bit hot but we didn't realise you could open the top windows.

My husband and myself stayed at this hotel for three days over Easter..from the Good Friday until Easter Monday. Weather wise we could not have picked a better weekend. The hotel was very busy while we where there but this wasnt a problem for the staff. All the staff where very friendly, courtious and helpful. Meals in the resturant both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Our room on the third floor was over looking the tennis courts with a fantastic view of Benbulbin. The room was spacious, and spotless and the bed very comfortable.
We could not find any fault with this hotel and would definately recommend it. Would definately go back again. Many thanks to all the staff for making our stay a beautiful experience.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor and it was spotless and spacious.

The hotel is rated as 4 star and while I have no specific complaints about the hotel or our experience, it did not display any of the small benefits or luxuries that would raise the hotel to 4* standard. The room was plainly furnished with an open space in place of a cupboard, no pictures and no bathroom accessories except for the standard soaps etc you find in all hotels these days.......but..... the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. We had a terrific view of Ben Bulben which was a real highlight of the room.

The hotel building is not attractive, either outside or in the public spaces such as the bar (a very dull room).......but.......the food in the restaurant in the evenings was good as was the service. Breakfast was a fairly standard buffet unless you selected the fish which was lovely.

Sligo city and the surrounding country and beaches are beautiful and the weather was great which made our 3 night break a very pleasant one. As I have already said, the hotel was pleasant and comfortable but I do not know what makes it a four star rather than a solid 3 star hotel.

I have just spent a wonderful weekend in Sligo, and really enjoyed my stay at the Sligo Park. Lovely staff, comfortable and spacious room and (we were on a Special Deal) great value for money. Would hope to return.

We travelled as a family of 3 - with 1 x 7 year old to the Sligo Park Hotel 25th to 27th April. We had a super time in Sligo - it is a wonderful spot. The hotel was perfect for us - we booked the day before and the receptionist explained that she didn't have a family room left - but we got a room with a double and a single and it was plenty spacious. We didn't spend much time in the room. This hotel has a great big pool - with a hot hot Jacuzzi just as it should be and the leisure centre staff couldn't do enough to make sure our child was entertained with inflatables and floats. The food in the hotel is straightforward but good - I recommend the bar beef stirfry. The staff are wonderful at this hotel. They truly live up to their logo - 'stay with' rather than stay at. Nothing was a problem. Ciara - who ran the kids movie club was a case in point and a lovely girl in the bar served our meals - and was fabulous when we were concerned about the children in the foyer later in the evening. 'They are not allowed in the bar - so its only right that they have their own space to run around'. There were a couple of functions on in the hotel on saturday night but despite this - the bar service and reception standards were maintained professionally. There is a state of the art gym - with all manor of weights and suspension TRX kit. Spinning bikes too. There were also some classes but I didn't partake.

Room Tip: We stayed in 331 - it has a view of Pearse Road and the tennis courts of the Hotel. Nobody played...

We would have rated this hotel overall excellent, had it not been for the building. The Hotel is run down and in need of a good clean, specifically the Swimming Pool area. However, the staff are excellent and could not do enough for you. We have to give a special mention for the staff in the Hazelwood Restaurant, they do a super job managing seating and guests, which is a real challenge at breakfast time and they do so with a smile!!! The highlight of our two nights stay was the food and in particular our Al a Carte dinner in the Hazelwood restaurant. We had the Scallops and Double Baked Cheese Soufflé for starters, which were outstanding!!! I had the Lamb on a bed of Puy lentils and bacon and my husband had the Filet Steak, OMG AM MAZ ING!!!! For dessert we had the Lemon Cheese Cake for dessert and as with the other two courses, it was great, light, creamy and delicious. We have to admit we made a judgment on the hotel due to how run down it looked, and did not expect much from the Restaurant, but the meal we had on the Friday night of our stay is one of the best meals we have had. Oh, another piece of advice, don’t order a cocktail in the hotel bar. They will really try and go out of their way to make them, because you’ve asked, however the results are not pretty.
