Passing through Sligo and found this place by chance - housed in a beautiful building, the people of Sligo are lucky to have a gallery like this on their doorstep - small but perfectly formed

“Great Gallery, an asset to the North West”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

Fantastic way to spend a few hours in Sligo Town, Niland Collection is superb and they boast education, social media, and outreach campaigns that could rival our largest cultural institutions in Ireland. Perhaps a little more information on some the Jack Yeats painting would be nice, a hand out as you enter the exhibition, and the cafe is a little exclusive looking, but all in all a great trip. And most significantly it's FREE.

“Great building fab exhibition space”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

Visited recently to see the Jack B Yeats exhibition. While the Yeats exhibition was very good I really enjoyed the exhibition by the Lebanese artist Rabih Mroué. The model is a beautiful building and the combination if the old school building along with the fabulous new extension is fantastic. Enjoyed some time in the cafe - great wifi and very good coffee. Free entry to the gallery, 2 good coffees and a slice of cake for around €8, all day parking in the carpark behind the model for only €2.50. Staff very friendly. Perfect way to spend a wet afternoon in Sligo.

“Ok but wouldn't be excited”
Reviewed 27 July 2013 via mobile

I volunteered here for the Summer back in 2011 and there's hardly wifi in the gallery rooms, only in the lobby and the cafe which was annoying getting the signal. Also the cafe itself is ridculously expensive to buy food in e.g you get a cookie for €5.00 and if you were a volunteer here like I was, you get 10% off which was also ridculous as it wasnt enough. The paintings I have to say are extrodinary even if I'm not an art person. It's great that you can go in free and have a look at all the paintings even if the parking is a rip off like nowadays. Make sure you have enough money to bring in if you wanna have a cup of coffee or food.
