We've stayed here a few times and would describe the hotel as just okay, by international standards it would be three star. The room is of reasonable size, the double bed is two Singles zipped together. The ambiance is friendly and in fairness all of the staff are very friendly and helpful.
There is a bar, with live music some nights and the bar food is tasty and reasonable value.
The main restaurant is very disappointing. The menu is fairly uninspiring, the lights are on full blast so it's brighter than McDonalds and there's just zero atmosphere. We could find nothing to bother with on the starter menu. For mains we had lamb shank and steak. Both were completely unremarkable. For dessert I had chocolate mousse with Cointreau and my partner had the cheese plate. The chocolate mousse was bland, not especially flavoursome, the best part was the dot of Cointreau and sesame seed cream on the edge of the plate. The cheese plate was generous but the notion of less-is-more passed them by! Honestly, if you stay her....skip the restaurant it's really not worth the €49 per head - go to the bar to eat or go back in town!
