We ate here on Sunday 20/04/2014 (Easter Sunday). The restaurant was quiet.
The quality of the plates varied - the Fish Mouse, Black Sole and Desert Plate were very good, not quite so the goats cheese terrine and the cheese. In general the service was very attentive. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced. The setting is charming.
Our disappointment was the handling of a mistake made with our main courses (Monkfish and Black Sole). When the mains arrived, we received Monkfish and Sea Bass. We pointed this out immediately and were told that it was an error in the kitchen and the Sea Bass would be replaced. Both the sea bass and the monkfish were removed, along with the side dish of potatoes and veg. The replacement mains were delivered in approx 12-15 mins. The blacksole was outstanding. What disappointed us was the return to the table of the Monkfish, which had been "kept warm" for the duration. The side plate of veg received the same treatment. At the prices prevailing, €29 and €28 for the Sole and Monkfish respectively, this was inappropriate. The Monkfish and veg should have been replaced. No mention was made of the error at the end of the evening and there was no adjustment to the bill.
