We stayed one night at the Granville during our trip to Ireland. It is a terrific location from the train station (ten minute walk with luggage.) Our room was on the second floor--and even with the elevator we had a few half flights of steps to navigate. The room was clean, spacious and the bathroom was nice. We were there during an unseasonably warm week and as a result almost every room all week was warm. We were glad we could open a window for some fresh air before bed.
We ate dinner in the bar and it was better than average, but predictable Irish food. A very nice option after arriving at 8pm and wanting an early night.
The hotel is also a great location to the Waterford Crystal factory, we walked about 10-15 minutes to tour the facility. The hotel staff was then quite nice about arranging for a cab to take us to the rental car office. I would stay again, and suggest it if you are looking for a safe bet all around.

Room Tip: Our room was not facing the water--which was probably nice considering there was construction on the...

We recently stayed one night while on a coach tour of Ireland. This hotel was our favorite hotel on the trip. Great old world charm. Our room was large, very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The decor in the bar/lounge is amazing, and the service fast and friendly. We ate in the restaurant, and the food was good as was the service. Definitely a hotel for people who want old world charm and a central location.

There's nothing special about this typical city centre hotel. You could be anywhere but my room was clean and bright, my bed was comfortable and the staff were efficient and friendly. If you want something very Irish or very romantic then go elsewhere, if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay at a fair price then this is a good place to be.

Hubby & I stayed here for 1 night on 9/2/2013. First I will say Ana at the front desk was super nice & Crystal at the bar was also very nice & suggested places in & out of Waterford to check out. This hotel is basically for the mature crowd, do not recommend it if you are looking for a young hip crowd (not that older people can not be hip & fun). We got a room with water view but it was above entrance & all tour buses were parked there. We asked to be switched & were told they could not as it was booked thru CIE tour & this was the room they had for us. Not happy as we had never heard of such a thing & we were not on a tour bus we were driving on our own, just happened to have trip booked thru travel agent & CIE. Dinner was a bit pricey for quality of food, not even the roll they gave was warm & I do mean roll as they only gave you 1 & try to get their attention to get a 2nd one to have with your actual meal. The best part was that Ana at the front desk was able to get us a fan to try & block out the outside noise.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from front of hotel. Tour buses park there & it is quite noisy.

Nice while feeling you are back in the day of being pampered. Good food and friendly staff. This is a keeper on places to stay. Town just outside the door. Waterway across the street. So you have it all at your doorstep. Rooms very comfortable and I slept like a baby with no noise issue.

Room Tip: Watch out for the steps in the room they have lights but a tired traveler needs to be aware

I attended a wedding and stayed overnight on Fri. 20th Sept. The hotel is a great choice for weddings, and the staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room was lovely, the decor is very soft and restful, and the beds are very comfortable. The food is very good too, and the full Irish breakfast is a must!
The hotel is very hot, rooms had heating on in very mild weather, which wasn't necessary. There was an overpowering smell from the bedlinen, washing powder I think, but very choking.

Room Tip: We had room 510, it is quiet and the decor is lovely.
